Started my second M41a3 build. It's a what if they built a "Super" version of this tank.
1) modified lower hull to accept track tensioner.
2) modified rear axle shaft tube to allow for the ball bearing axle supports.

Looking good Kevin, what if builds are brilliant as they have scope for great things and you can let your imagination run wild.

Yeah, go your hardest on the 'what-if'
The lack of any specific photo only confirms there was no photo- not that it could not have existed !!

Should be a fun build. Are you going to put in the metal road wheels all the way around? Metal tracks (you could paint on some pads using something like pickup truck bedliner stuff)...
Where did you get the bearing supports from?

I got the bearing supports from
http://www.rctank.de/. They offer two kinds. ones like mine are ball bearing, and the other that they have are bushings.
I may get another set to place on the inside of the hull also to give it FULL support . yes, I will be going to full metal road wheels and suspension with tracks... I don't like the excesive play in the plastic. With weight added they tend to deform and don't set flush to the tracks. My other M41a3 is almost 8lbs and can't handle factory wheels.

Very cool. Looking forward to seeing this one.
Didn't know there was a metal suspension option. That will be cool to see when you do it.

http://www.tankarmy.com has a selection of metal parts for a large number of these tanks. They carry the metal suspension for the bulldog as well as the wheels and spokets, they also have the metal shock and the only place ive found these!! I'll get them there. As for the road wheels I'll order through
http://www.rctank.de/. They offer the wheels, suspension arms in one package. The tensioner and idlers i recieved from them seem sturdy and we'll made. They are also supported by bearings. I'm also looking at their tracks for my build. They seem to apear of quality. They call them old black? It's the finish on them I'm sure of. I'll order probly the wheels next week, or a set of steel 4:1 gears.
This build will take months so hopefully I'll learn some good tricks of the trade, and positive feed back.

Also want to note that I have not had any problems with the hobby shops I mentioned in the last post of mine. Both were about 15 days to get to my door from across the pond. Expensive, but im happy.
