Hi folks,

You may have received an email from Matt about donating to Tony, Tiger 205's, widow Alison and 2 young children.
Unfortunately it was sent before I confirmed that the PayPal email address I had for them was still current.

IT ISN'T!           S T OP !!!

Sorry if anyone has already donated to that one - hopefully it will be blocked or refundable somehow?!

Should anyone wish to donate - and please don't feel pressured in any way whatsoever as most members didn't have direct personal contact with Tony, so it can't be expected - the PayPal address to use is:

ynotalison(AT)aol.com

(Tony backwards in case you were wondering!)

Alison is overwhelmed by your postings on Tony's thread and has been very touched by all your kind comments and thoughts.
I have not yet spoken to her about the new reference section title, but I am sure she will be thrilled about it.

Thank you all,

Nigel

Editied to keep the spam bots at bay (replace the (AT) with @ and the address will work).
Sorry to hijack your post Nige, Mart

I just wanted to say thank you to you all. I never thought when I posted the news about Tony that I would get the responses I have but I was such a long way off the mark. Tony always considered this site his 'home,' he took his responsibilities on here very seriously, whilst enjoying a little joke or banter with you all. His sense of humour was nearly always prevalent when posting and I've enjoyed taking the opportunity to read back through some of his posts over the last few days, though I did get to read more than a few jokey comments he slipped in about me when I wasnt looking  :o Sometimes I knew what he had posted as he would tell me but then he'd look at me, sort of raising his eyebrows and shrugging his shoulders and say 'but I am only joking, you know that, dont you?' followed by a wink and an immediate request for me to make a cuppa  ::) Poor Tony, often, late in the evening he would be telling me all his plans for his 'baby' (205) and I hate to say this but probably 80% of it went straight over my head. I have a job remembering the difference between mantlets and cupolas so how he expected me to hold a full blown conversation about angles of trajectory and firing rates I dont know... I do know, however, that Tony had an amazing eye for detail and expected to achieve nothing less than perfection in everything he did for his tiger. Good was never good enough, it had to be the best. He would never buy anything for her either, not if he could make or modify it himself. I've seen him sit here, in his little corner in the living room and acomplish amazing things from nothing. Nigel covered a lot of what Tony was about in his post on Tony's earlier thread. It wasnt only in the world of modelling that Tony excelled either, his attitude towards getting it right was there in everything he did. As he was a qualified fabricator/welder I was privilieged to watch him work many a time on a vehicle (we were also big classic Ford fans) and I have seen him, he called them 'bodges' but I wont, pull off many an amazing repair that other workshops had refused to even give a quote for. He prized his reputation and rightly so. He worked hard to earn it.

We were none of us prepared for this. There is a huge Tony-shaped hole in our lives that we just have to get used to. I dont want to get used to it, I just want him back but I know that just wont happen and that life has to go on. I was taken a little by surprise yesterday when I logged on and saw the new reference board up and running already. I knew it was going to happen as Rob (fv432) had already mentioned it to me earlier but I think it is a wonderful way to remember him by, as time goes on Tonys posts will disappear to the back of the queue, so to speak, but that board bearing the log-in name he was so proud of will always be there. I can say with 110% certainty that he would have been totally made up with that, it would be a point of honour with him to put as much detail on there that he could muster. And Im sure that is rather a lot  ::)

So thank you all. Im so glad he found this place

I thought you might like to see a photo of one of the floral tributes

This was made by Tony's sister's partner and his mum and I think it is amazing. It's made out of oasis with cambelts for tracks
