Storage Box ends are incorrectly set up

Sorry Tony...I just remembered this one.

Regretfully, we no longer have a scanner, pending purchase of a new all-in-one printer, and to really curdle the pudding, my digicam suddenly died last week so I will try and describe this as best I can for the moment and then come back with more accurate details.

Essentially, the two side (or end) walls of the HL Tiger I storage box angle in towards the back of the turret too sharply. They should actually meet the back wall of the turret several mm's farther towards the sides of the turret. Tamiya got it right, and I am somewhat suspicious that the error with the HL storage box is a direct result of their having to stretch the length of the turret to accomodate the airsoft gun.

I will try and get back with specs in the next day or so. There's another stupid late winter storm on it's way into Winnipeg, so my priorities may shift somewhat for a while.

Best regards,

David

Sorry about the delay, Gents.

It took a while to find and dust off my old school geometry set, but here goes the best verbal description I can come up with. Hope it helps.

By scribing a line across the top of the HL Tiger I Storage Bin from the two outer rear end points of the curve, you create the base line of a triangle for which the two end (side) plates of the bin form the two sides of the triangle. The angles where these sides meet the base are both 64 degrees.

When you duplicate this procedure with the Tamiya Tiger I Storage Bin, you end up with an angle of 75 degrees, which matches the line drawings for the actual Tiger I.

The other, more obvious problem with the HL Storage Bin is that the center section against the rear turret wall should be completely open to allow access to the rear turret lifting pin. This makes the bin U-shaped. I think it is possible to partially fake this to some point just below the actual location of the rear turret lifting pin and still maintain a space for the elevation of the airsoft gun to function.

Best regards,

David

you can extend the square hole ( just a bit ) and fit in the mushroom no problem, the wsn tiger already has the lug fitted..........

Hi Oz,
I put a liffting pin in without altering the hole by filling the pin down , but Im not impressed with it so I plan to re do my turret and Im going to do it your way . Your tanks look excelent by the way..
