Any advice greatfully received my left track keeps jumping off the front sprocket the track doesn't come off just jumps out off line then the sprocket just spins I've had trouble with the idler wheel in the past so I took it apart and have glued the two halves together and all seems well I've adjusted the track tension and it all seems well but after about ten minutes running it jumps off again,so I'm stumped.could it be the new lipos? Are they putting too much power through? It does spin track on concrete on launch now if I'm too keen with the throttle. It a Taigen late tiger 1 with metal wheels, tracks sprockets and idlers, a white metal 3-1 Taigen gearboxes. Would 4 or 5-1 steel gearboxes help?
Many thanks
Eddie

Could be the gearboxes are not at right angles to the hull, I would suggest drive shaft support bearings, these will solve gearbox alignment issues and also help prolong the life of the gearbox final drive, how this helps dude, also check the track has not got a pin hanging out or a small rock caught between the guide horns etc

Scroll down to the bottom of the page in the link, I think this is the type of thing to look for, i'm probably wrong but it seems to me the idler may be out of line or maybe a slack track.

Thanks for the tips guys just checked and they seem in line but without the tracks on the left gearbox has about 1mm of play the right side has none so I guess a new set of box's is in order as well as a set of support bearings on the hull.
Many thanks penny saving starts now

Any tips on breaking it to the Mrs...? I think I'll just ask for the box's for fathers day

I'm a bit disappointed really I deliberately got a well optioned tank to avoid this

Thanks I've been looking at the 4/1 Taigen just a matter of pennies at the moment.

Having looked at the video.. I can see that there is backwards and forwards play in the gearbox....But that should not effect the tracks coming off the sprocket. The track is a "sealed loop or a continious chain", so it moving backwards and forwards should not throw a track, because the track will simply rotate with the gears. It has to be an alignment problem or too great a slack in the track.
I would investigate a bit further before buying new gearboxes, because you might still be loosing the track, even with the new boxes.
If you can try, taking a video of the tank running around on that track....or put the tank up on a box and run that side with the track on so that we can see the wheels, idler and sprocket all turning.
That might help to narrow the problem down.

While the track is off take of the sprocket and run it around the inside of the track by hand, sometimes they don't mesh properly

@afv I've just tried what you said and run the track around the sprocket and its fine thanks .
@:Dietrich I'll give that a try and post the results tomorrow although its hard to see in the video there is about a mm of up and down movement on that side and none at all on the opposite sprocket there is a slight clicking sound and as you spotted a fair amount of backlash.
Many thanks to all concerned this is a great forum.
