Mark's - Early Tiger 1 build

So Christmas I got a Brand New £99 smoke and sound Heng Long tiger - and have been working on it slowly since then. Just got to grips with pictures etc, so I can keep a record of my build on forum.
I have discovered the excellent amount of upgrade options and detail that can be added.
I won't list what I have done so far but hopefully you can see. I am hoping to start with some smaller detail bits soon.

I had a go at scratch building a Jack mount - was a very good test of patience.
The only thing I haven't been able to complete yet is finding something for 1mm bolts and wing nuts
Any comments appreciated.
Cheers

Wow good work! Isn't it amazing how a 100 tank can turn into a money pit?

MARK Hi, if you are still looking for 1mm "nuts & bolts" then I would heartily endorse
http://www.modelfixings.com
they have a massive range and are totally reliable,
One mm wing nuts are something else. I have searched across the modelling world for them and the best I have come up with are two different dealers,
First is "SCHUMO" which you would find at "
www.Axels-Modellbau-Shop, you could also try
http://www.welshdragonmodels.co.uk these are non functioning and expensive the other dealer is "IMPACT" in the Far East which are much cheaper and also non functioning
www.mitosal.com is where you will find them but you will need to click on "CATALOGUE".
BUT both types can be made to work if you have a "TAP & DIE "set,
You run the simulated thread of the wing nut stud through the proper size "DIE" and you now have a wing nut that has a servicable thread although of course the wing nut does not itself turn on the shaft instead the wing nut acts in the same way that bolts or screws work " ie, all of a piece but it does work and looks right.
If you are putting Wing Nuts on a Tiger 1 you will discover that you will need in excess of 20
I hope that helps

Jeman - thanks for comments - I got instructions for jack bracket from the 'things to add to your tiger section of the forum
http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... .php?f=118, how these people come up with the idea originally is beyond me, but I am grateful too them.
Jackalope - thanks for comments, luckily my wife likes me having a hobby but think she is keen for me to show other people my work
Jarndice - wow thanks for all that info. I will purchase some next month, hopefully and will look at all those options. Its worrying how much detail it is possible to go into...

This months instalment of bits added.
Visor looks much better, and the £1.99 air filter cover I think is a very satisfying touch.
Metal tools are painted, but that was just a practice.
I think new headlights will finish off the front.

the MG came from Welshdragonmodels, which has some great stuff, I made the ball mount from milliput, though it could be better.

Mark if you try a 10 mm children's plastic bead, just drill a hole through for the mg 34 barrel, and with some careful boxing in with waste plastic you have a working ball mount! You can find details on TFTM's Tiger 1 build.
I hope you will forgive me for being PICKY!! but I could'nt help but notice your hull mg is an Infantry pattern rather than the Armoured type,
The Armoured barrel exterior is smooth and is available from a number of dealers complete with "LED"

PS, ABER make an Armoured Barrel conversion kit if you have any non operating mg34s, it is an easy fix and totally changes the look.
