New Tiger

Always wanted a Tiger so I come across one brand new for £35, it had a TX issue thats now fixed. yay for me seeing as the Heng Long Tiger prices see to be rising slowly....

anyway

Image

early Tiger One come with RX18, 'white metal' boxes sound and smoke etc.

first off the smoke unit went along with the speaker as I dont really like the sound they make and the smoke units are no good, I personaly like the sound the gearboxes them self make......just me?

first port of call was to brake it down of course and post a classic shot of many many toyish looking things on the floor

Image

I am not going for 100% historical acurate Tiger one but I have made a few mods that just stood out as looking very wrong.

Space between the mud guards cut in

Image

and the drivers hatch needed opening up

Image

The tools on the deck just look horrid also so I sliced them off

Image

I used a mix of everyday filler (type you use on walls) with a bit of pva mixed in, I used this method before of plastic and it makes for a good filler that dont shrink, sands nicely and sets solid..

I also added the power supply cables for the head lights

Image

Lifting points on the turret were added

Image

I also took the time to cut this out make a hinge to use for the power supply switches and battery cut off..... but I forgot the pipes that go over it making this a pointless waste of time :haha:

Image

this tiger is going to be worn out looking like its been going round the woods day after day with poilished look to it....I put some scars on it here and there aswell

Image

Image

shell struck the turret and took out the smoke launchers......... well I actualy lost the darn thing :/

Image

I got hold of some metal tracks and sprockets, thank you Tony  they have had the rust effect added and thats perfect for this build

Time for paint ..... all I did was make the blue a darker blue.... RAF blue to be exact :) and then gave it some basic camo....
I must point out my air brush is about 10 years old and I havent used it in about 2 years so the paint job did not come out as I had planned :S I am also not very good with an air brush so that did not help.....but you have to try these things right??

twill do..... :/

moving onto the more detail work to rescue my hash job I think it turned out ''ok''

Its almost dontI got a few things coming in the mail to top it off, a bit more detail work and I will be good to go....
only other upgrade I will be making to this is 3:1 steel gearboxes

thats all for now

Am almost done with it have some more detail work to add here and there, the tools need to go back on the tow cables, netting things like that

I want to make quick release for the hull sections rather than using the screws, tidy up the electronics take a look at that airsoft to see if it can be made smoother action and more oomph to it

I have solved the quick release issue for the two hull sections, I have a whole bunch if insanely powerfull neodymium magnets.. I simply added a metal washer either side of two screw locator holes on the bottom half, and put the magnets on the stems of the screw channels on the upper hull, two screws to stop them falling off and bingo.... they are um very strong I can lift the whole thing up from the top half and the bottom shows no signs of falling :)

its easy to peel off so that was nice simple and efective

The black tape is to stop them clapping together, these things explode when the clap together

Ideas are for sharing.... The magnetics are easy to do and work perfectly... using all the original screw stalks it makes it line up when closed.... no gaps anywhere

Making way slowly with the Tiger I started all the electrics from the start and made it a littl neat, got a good 50 50 split on the weight of it now, I need a space in the middle for my ''cannon'' mechanism to fit, and I am not talking about the airsoft unit :shh:

metal bits to replace the ones I sliced off

Image

more weather effects

Image

and a few more touched up posing shots

just need the tools added and a couple more touches and it should be done..

Here is a hacked hi torque servo as part of an internal project I will be adding......more to come on that later down the road
