Gearbox and sprocket binding

Bought a 4:1 gearbox from http://www.rctank.de/ for my bulldog and metal sprockets to go ith my metal tracks.... not to pleased with them the sprockets were far to wide on the teeth and had to file all 48 of them to get it to bind without jumping!

and one of the motors on the gearbox has more resistance than the other making my dog walk round in circles.... is spins up to speed slower than the other and you can feel it by hand that its stiffer, I tried different TX, RX RX18 etc but its the motor and also one of the drive gears spins a tad wonky... all in all spent a few hours on something that seems to be an expensive chore

I had plastic sprockets on metal tracks with white metal gearboxes that work a hell of a lot better than these hop ups? and they have never failed on me in over two years! :S

anyway little rant over, is there a way I can free up this motor? the rest I can sort out...

Are all the axles a little wonky? I guess you could disassemble and reassemble and add some ceramic grease. If one of the holes for the axle holding the wonky gear is out that would be a problem. It would eventually grind down and you'd have less friction but the life span of that and the meshing gear won't be much.

Or you could just send it back, which might be the most sensible course of action.

Silverstalker,
Billpe has the right of it. Speak to Dominique at RCTank. Explain what happened and what components (tracks) that you are trying to use with the gearbox and you should receive some good advice and maybe new parts. ( hard to say on that for sure since you already modified the sprockets )

I fixed the sprockets they mesh nicely now. but the box has a tiny wobble on the gear not the axel evr so slight, Its the motor that is mainly the problem, seems to be a laggy on take up and stiff to turn..

PS who is Dom cant find the memeber are they on this site?

Cheers

Dom = Dominique which in my experience the name would imply that person is female. She's great to deal with.
