2.4G Tx Rx with Heng Long board question

Hello
to all you experienced tankers
I have some experience with RC cars and trucks.
All the RC cars that I have you can just plug your own Rx straight into the Motor Control Unit
what do you have to do to be able to use your own 2.4Ghz Tx and Rx on a Heng Long board ?
As the HL board seems to incorporate the Rx in it, rather than it being a separate function.
If someone else has answered this question I'd be super grateful if you could direct me to that post
thanks for you help

Hi, The simple answer to your question is "You can't" the RX18 board that HENG LONG use and a similar board in the TAIGEN Tanks is a closed board and although you can fit an IBU2 board and swap the plugs from the RX18 to the IBU2 you cannot use a propriety Receiver or Transmitter with HENG LONG or TAIGENS own boards, If you choose to fit an IBU2 you are then free to use any combination of TX/RX that you wish, I hope that helps.

thanks for replying
are you absolutely sure tho'
I've just read about the RC2TG on the Ozzie forum and it seems to enable using your own Tx with Taigen Heng Long boards, but I've not seen one in anyone's build or heard much about them myself

Hi
I use the RC5HL converter in a couple of my tanks from RC australia tanks (£38 including P&P) it allows me to use my RX-18 for all functions with an Turnigy 9X proper radio (5 channels for the RX-18) and also the spare 3 channels for other functions on my AVR's.
if thats any help for you.
regards Denzil

thanks a million
that is absolutely what I wanted to know,
so it totally is possible and you can then use a decent radio without
having to shell out for Tamiya or another board
