SUPERSMOKER 2

I have a Supersmoker 2 which i bought a while ago from Ebay and it works with my HENG LONG RX18 but not with either of my TAIGEN boards?????
Now i replaced the heng longs because i wanted to go to 2.4ghz and cant understand why the Taigen boards wont run the same smoke unit as they seem to be identical boards other than a fan pretty much.
Hopefully i havent got two crap taigen boards as ive tried two HENG LONG boards and they both work fine.
Is there and difference that im un aware of here ?
has anyone used a supersmoker 2 on a taigen board ??

I talked to Carl the maker of the current supersmoker and he told me that the Taigen boards output was not enough to run the fan on his smokers. There is nothing wrong with your boards its the resisters that Carl uses on the smoker do not play well with the Taigen boards. I had this same exact problem which is why the smokers I got from him are in a box and not in my tanks. He really should put in a note that they only work well with the old rx-18 boards and not the new 2.4 gig ones.
I have 2 TARR smokers on order from Poland that I'm going to try out and see how they work. They are not proportional but from what I've seen they smoke much better then the stock smokers. These could be made proportional with the use of a IBU or similer board.

That certainly helps me out. Thanks for the info, Looks like its a choice of no smoke or 2.4ghz control.
I wonder if the NEW 2.4ghz control board from HENGLONG would work as that SHOULD have the same output as the old ones did for the smoker unit.
hmmmm more money lol.

The old RX-18 smoker terminal is switching "on" and "off" the
power to the smoke unit...
The Taigen board is switching "on" and "off" the
ground of the smoke unit...

How would that effect the smoker working properly on not? The supersmoker will work with a Taigen board but the fan won't spin at "idle", once you throttle up the fan spins but just very slowly. What I posted is what the gentleman who builds the super smoker had told me as to why they do not work properly with anything but the old rx-18 boards.

I've never used the super smoker 2 but if I'm not mistaken, it is using a 5 Volts voltage regulator ( Type 7805) to power the fan at idle...
For that regulator to work properly, the ground pin has to be connected directly to the ground ( like it does on the RX-18); instead of going to the ground via a transistor like it does with the Taigen board....

Couldn't tell you. I wish I had known that before I gave up on them and bought others but oh well. I guess that's what I get for listening to the guy who makes them.

That is exactly right, the fan regulator was grounded directly on the original unit. Which did not use a control unit but employed a basic circuit.
If others have units which have issues their is a basic wiring method that will allow the units to operate without a control board and still operate proportionally.
I will work with Normond to assist other in modifying their smokers if this will be helpful? The same problem is affecting large scale Super Smokers as well, which I am working to address.
I do accept some responsibility for these issues and will work with you guys to straighten out your units if possible.
Its a long story, but I will say this. Carl was asked by me not to disclose that I created the Original Super Smokers, and once Marketed the original through RC TANK WARS with another Hobbyist named Dan. When Phil the owner died I stopped marketing the units,
Carl kept his word and allowed me to remain anonymous. I have to say the man has kept his word, even when not doing so would have served him better.
Strmnd54 pm sent. We can work this out guys and I will do my part to assist.
