Tamiya 1/35 M4A Sherman 2.4G beginnings

Hi there
just go the Tamiya 1/35 M4A Sherman

I don't know much at all about Shermans and never built one
but it looked to be the most versatile of the 1/35 2.4G rc tanks (Panther G was number two on my list and the old Mhz 1/25 Chieftain was three)

the new 2.4G control was a deal breaker for me

I know there are tons of builds and threads on here and people way more skilled and experienced than me but if anyone wants me to add pix and feedback about the kit let me know and I'll do my best to snap a few shots along the way

Once I get this underway I may look to converting other 1/35 1/25 and 1/16 scale stuff myself but I just so really wanted to get this little Sherman and the joy of having Brad Pitt driving it was too much for me (or at least the E8 version, but still it's a Sherman)

Ok,
so the postie dropped off a medium sized packet and...

if this kit was coffee it would be high altitude pure arabica, blue mountain,
it has an aroma of quality all over it (even the postman seemed happy to be holding the box)

I will post pix of every scratch and tricky bit later as I'm in the middle of another kit and have lots of others things on my plate. The Tx is superb in design, engineered to sit comfortably in your hand, and this is an RC backpackers dream, charge up the batts and take it to college, school, the park, down by the river, the beach...

The instructions are very clear and easy to follow, some parts are tricky, fidly and it could be easy to use the wrong screw or plug a wire in the wrong socket - there are some very small and similar but different parts, the comparments are tight and packed full

the control unit is amazing its a DMD dual motor unit and a multifunction unit and an RX all in one  , about the size of some RX's even

I do have some gripes about holes :eh: here and there and the fact that many electrical parts are located at the bottom of the tank making waterproofing very very challenging (for me anyway), a big pity imo as it would have been fun to see it swim.

But and pardon the long winded blabla blabla bla but I think, and sadly so,Tamiya may well have a hard time with these, even tho' imo they are amazing, kits 'cos Taigen et al have their similar priced 1/16 and Hitec have their very fancy series of 1/25 vstanks (that even flash when hit B| ) all around the same price range, but then again if you stumble on a bargain, you're a Tamiya fan boy or 1/35 is really your thing, that's another story...

First off I'll set up the 'lectrics to see that all is functioning and will move on slowly from there. For now the cats are enjoying tearing up the box and packaging and ransacking the sprue bags and now edible instruction manual :problem:

but be WARNED 8O you will need 1x 9v battery and 4x 1.5v LR 03 (or what I think most of us call AAA) batts (preferably nimh rechargeable or hook up your own lipo cell, but more on that later)

So will post build pix when I can get round to it for those few who are interested, thanks for your encouragement :)

Jake thanks for your interest and support
I see you like the big cats - very nice ;D
Is there a limit to the pix I can post. I am trying to take shots of all the parts of the kit
and shots to explain tricky bits :eh: in the build or just shots that make things clear o-
and easy to understand, but it soon adds up fast
I size them down to 320 240 pixels and if I put 4-5 per post is that going to be ok ??? ??? ???
Comparison 1/35 vs 1/16 then Contents
