RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me why some T34's were configured with a length of what appears to be telegraph pole and what it was used for? They were often fitted to the right side of the tank. I am probably missing the obvious here but don't seem to be able to find any reference to it.

Its use to get out of ditches and swamps. It is not limited to the T34s as other tank carries them too, Tiger Is and Stug III comes to mind as well.
