Rumor is Taigen is getting into 1/72 scale with a few tanks. They will be IR only, and in the $55-60 dollar price range.

Hi Joe, I think it is more than rumor as the American importer was talking about it on RCU earlier today. I can see remakes of a multitude of WW2 films using ostensibly real German and American armour in battlefield scenes. :haha: shaun

Hi Shaun, yes, I took a walk over to the RCU tank forum and read the post from Erik of IMEX/Taigen. Also of interest was the new JT coming from Torro. That is going to be a real beast of a tank.

Joe, I do wish more importers would talk to prospective customers on places like our Forum and RCU, Although IMEX-ERIC gives me the impression of a keen builder as well as a most beguiling salesman, More strength to him I say. shaun

One thing for sure Shaun, I won't be going in that direction (1/72) I chose 1:16 due to the fact I could see them and their parts. I gave all of my HO and N scale trains to my son a long time ago.

I think most of us started our modelling with 1/72 and moved ever onward finally arriving here, my railway history started with a Hornby DUBLO set one very happy Christmas, later I tried to build up a decent N guage layout but when I attended the local model railway society and asked about British Railways Catenary engines and the allied equipment I got the kind of response I would have expected if I had exposed my naked person in the local nunnery, If it was not steam then they did not want to know, I sold my N guage rolling stock soon after that! :haha: shaun

I'd like a few 1/72 tanks for those rainy days when my mates are round. Also all the gears / electronics would be good for small 1/16 vehicles.

Getting some OLE in N gauge would be beyond impressive! Would you have got the 25kv ac route or the 1500v dc? Some AL1 and AL2 in n would have been sweet!

Well if they look like the 1/72 scales that came out of Japan and China ...I don't want them lol...for some reason when they make WWII versions they look stubby and fat
The best set (I bought one) that used to be available was put out by believe it or not ...Radio Shack... a pair of battlers ...M1a1s to be specific :D ...full function ...even the turret moved ...the reason I got them...were because of one cool feature ...when they got shot..the turret would fly off :haha: ...not sure how wide the release for those were...I found one set..and it was the demo at a Radio Shack in Canada years ago ...OOP now...and really rare to find

For indoor battles I would have thought that 1/25 or 1/35 would have been a better choice. There is already a huge choice of static kits, so converting moulds to take RC would be a lot easier, plus there is more room for electronics.

I wouldn't use anything other than 1/16, as that is as small as I dare go for detail work, my eyesight is bad enough already! :haha:
