Tamiya KT set up help

Just connected up all the electrics to my Tamiya KT. All seems to be working but cannot seem to workout how to make it start in the hand crank mode. Tried various ways but cant seem to get it to do this.
Having said this the normal method I think is to switch on the tank first followed by the transmitter then after a short pause the KT fires up.
If you switch on the transmitter first then the KT it should fire up in hand crank mode. It has done this on two occasions but just cant work out how to make it do this each time.
Help please to resolve this issue. PS I'm using a Planet 5 transmitter and the receiver that came with it.
Cheers

Hi Awins,
Yep that's right except when you go through the start up let the tank start then turn off the TX only it will then shut down, then turn on the TX again don't switch the tank off when you switch the TX back on it starts on the starter motor. So starts up quicker. When you start the tank first that's when you get the hand crank start up. Hope this helps!!.Brian...

Hi Be carful you can get runaways turning off radio before the Tank , also switching on tank before the radio it can happen. I have had it happen the tank drove off the bench and smashed up bad.
Have seen runaways tear off at full speed and do some damage one was a Jagdtiger full speed into a wall knock the recoil unit off the tank.
regards pete
P.S. don't forget some of the radios we use have aircraft default settings full throttle on loss of signal
so it depends which mode you have full throttle or gun fire on loss of signal

Hi ya
I had this exact issue with my Tam KT build.
For me it turned out to be the type of receiver i was using.
I use Spektrum gear and i cant remember the names of the rx units but one unit would not turn the tank on of off.
I simply changed the rx for a cheaper spektrum unit and all was fine.
If you have another rx about, swap it over and try it out.

Thank you for all your help, Ive now got it set up just needed to move the plugs about as per the posts here.
I would really like to get to the bottom of just why the Planet T5 wont operate the way it should. there must be a solution to this surely.
