Happy New Year guys,

Anyone know the length of a real Tiger 1 barrel cleaning rod? I am just about to start to start on some, might as well get them the right scale length, I am sure answer is out there on the web but I'm blowed if I can find it.

I am unsure if the existing cleaning rods on my Mato Tiger 1 are the correct length, I currently have the excellent Aber kit which is for a King Tiger, need to cut wooden rods to correct length, I could have just bought the Aber Tiger 1 kit but who's to say these are the correct length? At least I thought with the King Tiger Aber kit I know they are to long.

Here's hoping, someone on here must know!

Using Schneiders "Tigers in Combat" as a reference against a 1/16 Tiger 1 it would appear that the actual length should be approx 7cm whereas the upgrades all appear to be 6cm,I think that is more a case of perspective and balance than accuracy. As one scales down, the difference in items such as barrel cleaning rods if kept to true scale would actually look too big, If when next you look at the grille of your Rolls Royce, you do so head on, you will notice that the vertical slats are not in fact straight but bowed and quite deliberately, to give the illusion that the whole grille is straight which would be lost if it were constructed otherwise. Besides, thank you for the quick reply shaun, I thought the answer to this one would be an easy find on the net, wrong, unless I'm missing something, is the 7cm the total length or just the wood rod minus the brass bits?

The cleaning rod was made of 5 segments at first, 1238mm long.
Around January 1943, it was changed to have 6 segments, one of them 918mm and the rest 980mm.

what would we do with out your enclopedia of knowledge, for some reason, dont ask me why, i could not find the answer to this one anywhere, suddenly i here a million dial callipers sliding in to action checking the length of there Tiger 1 cleaning rods.....
