RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

Hi to everyone, ive built quite a few Tamiya 1/35th tanks over the years but never ventured in to r/c ones until now.
Simply want a different direction of hobby, ive been into american cars for the past few years and its got so silly as to what you have to spend to simply keep the things on the road.
Anyway that's in the past, im looking for a little bit of advice re First r/c tank, I love Tigers (as you can guess from the username) so a Tiger kit would be preferable.
Im ok with painting etc as ive done a lot of airbrushing helmets, models etc in the past and I love the weathering side of the hobby.
So if anyone could help I will take it all on board.

Welcome to the madhouse, if its a Tiger build your looking for in kit form, if your wallet can stretch that far its got to be a Tamiya, or you could try the less expensive Taigen tiger 1 kit.

Welcome to the Forum. There are several Tiger 1 kits in RC form. One of them is the venerable 1/35 Tamiya Tiger 1. ;o) In larger scales, You would look to 1/16 I believe as Tamiya offers the Gold Standard in 1/16 Tiger 1 kits. Close behind is the new Taigen 3 in 1 Tiger 1 kit. Cost on both is close with the Tamiya being the pricier but coming with the company's excellent electronics whereas with the Taigen Tiger 1, you must supply your own. It is a case of six of one and a half dozen of the other. Whatever you get, you are in the right places for tips, tricks, and assists. Pictures of ongoing work is appreciated.

Hallo AL, Welcome to the Forum and a very happy New Year, here is where I get heavy! If you are in the USA or Canada then ALPHA, Painless,Eastern and Saxondog will be able to offer you valuable advice on dealers but if you are in the UK then the very first thing to do before spending one penny of your hard earned is to scroll down to the BLACKLIST and take on board every name, because they are there for one reason, they have in one way or other cheated, taken advantage, failed to deliver or just plain deceived or stolen from various members of this Forum and that includes ME!!! After you have read that list, and yes I know that some names are well known, you should go to the RECOMMENDED dealers list where you will find decent people who we buy from. sorry for all that but we are constantly getting people coming to us with tales of woe simply because they did not read the BLACKLIST or even worse they read it and did not believe it, If at any time you are in doubt about a dealer come and ask us,we should be able to help, remember if in doubt there are plenty of honest dealers on the RECOMMENDED list. After all that enjoy the Forum and ask all the questions you like. shaun

Welcome my friend, you are in excellent company, plenty of people with Tiger experience here. Take a look at the build threads and you will get the idea, so no shortage of helpful advice.

HI Al - welcome to the forum mate.

I'm pleased to hear the positive comments about the Tamiya Tiger as I've only looked in the box once on mine so far - must get on with it at some stage!
