How old is middle age..

Post by Jake79 »

Hi All

I read a post lately and it seems that one of the guys here thinks that most of the forum members are middle aged...when I read this I thought he's probably right, I'm 35 and thought I had a few years before I got there :S ..people living longer and all, would you say it's around 40ish and when would you stop being middle aged and be judged as getting old...so to say most members are middle aged interested me, as I was slightly confused who would fall into this bracket....

Cheers

Jake

Well Jake I'm now a half centurian but as for you if my children are to be believed you are classed as old and I am ancient but hey its all a matter of perspective and I think I am still a big kid :D :D :D

When it comes to questions about age ... though I am older that dirt
my approach is the Alfred E Newman approach

because it really doesn't matter...things happen anyway :D

Yer so just a label, no real given age when you could say you were middle aged, just how you feel...ok then that sounds alright to me.

I can remember several decades ago when I was in junior school, we were discussing our teacher and I made the mistake of referring to her as 'quite old'. I didn't know that she was going to choose that moment to walk through the door. She tore me off a strip, saying she wasn't old, she was 32! :haha:

Middle aged is definately a state of mind. I have some friends who are 7 years older than me and as sharp as a knife, and others many years younger who can't remember anything at all accurately, or remember it at all most of the time. I call it brain drift.

I have two hobbies, motorcycles and tanks. Both keep the grey matter working overtime, and I am sure that this is what slows down the ageing process.

Ever go to a chinese festival Jake....that stuff will blow your mind on age....just for fun...I took in one of the street fortune tellers.... one of the notations she made said I have a really old soul...been on earth as a human 8 times...so middle age would come anywhere from 200 to 400 years :haha: :haha:

so yeah... I'm older than dirt...and proud of it :D

I have another view, like Wibbly I have modeling and motorcycles. Over the last three years I have given two of my bikes (BOTH NOW ANTIQUES) to the younger generation my son and nephew . Now I have one left which I purchased at age 20,the bike is now 31 years old. So when I stand beside it,move it,service it I feel my age.

When I ride my bike I feel 20 again. with some minor exceptions. When I model my tanks, same thing until play time, then I'm 12 again.

Middle age, well its perspective and playfulness. I enjoy being childish, adolescent acting not my age. PETER PAN said it best,I SHALL NEVER GROW UP!

Recently I became a Grandfather, now I have his entire childhood to live with him. No I shall never grow up,stuff it why be old when being young is so much more fun.

Also friends matter,My closest 4 range from 22 to 76 were all a Happy group. cheers Saxondog
