Hi guys,
I fancy a panzer IV next in 1/16. I don't want to stretch to a Tamiya one as they look to be quite a lot of money.
I'm really hoping to get something that works well and will stand the test of time - what are my options please in terms of what's available out there apart from the standard Heng Long offerings. ?

I cannot help wondering why you are disregarding the HENG LONG PANZER 4? The build quality and the standard r/c fit is as good as anybody else in the latest offering, and they are as ever very competitively priced, the upgrades available for the Panzer 4 as far as I am concerned make the HENG LONG a no brainer, just make sure you get the latest and are not being palmed off with old stock. shaun

Good morning Steelhammer,
Just this once I will disagree with my friend jarndice. The Taigen comes with the 2.4GHZ radio as standard. and I feel this is a LARGE upgrade.Yes you can upgrade the Heng Long. In fact, Heng Long offers it 's 2.4GHZ transmitter that allows control of smoke and volume right from the front of the transmitter. My Panzer IV came with metal tracks and gear boxes as standard. As an incentive, the seller (Artistic Hobbies, Texas, USA) offered metal drive wheels, idlers, and free shipping as an incentive. Regardless of the way you decide to go, jarndice, as I have discovered, is the go to person for advise on the Panzer IV.

Aaron I offer a doubting congratulations, You have achieved half of what as a Tank owner and builder you need, that is you have your wife on board, now you have to work on the bank manager, The simple truth is that just like children, one day you had one Tank and the next thing you know there are three, you can do what I do with the children and blame the milkman, but the Tanks are down to me, what can I say? You have stepped onto the slippery slope and poverty looms, good luck!!!

You are so right Shaun. My wife enjoys battling with the two WSN IR tanks I purchased cheap. (Tiger and T-34). She is the one that usually initiates us having a tanks battle. (Probably because she wins 90% of them) It's nice when the wife not only supports your habit, but also participates.

Thanks very much chaps for your thoughts. I've got some homework to do now I've got some decent leads. I'm not against a HL panzer 4 but I really like the idea of metal gears/wheels/tracks.

Me, Im the sort that deliberately buys the model with no accessories fitted at all. This ensures both 'A' I get the best valued option with no unrealistic expectations un-met, and 'B' I get to decide who from, what type and how much on all the accessories I want.
Then bonus is I get to have all the enjoyment & frustration of fitting them myself.
