from what i can gather yes they are, tamiya did three versions of these kits battery powered full interior and standard model, don't know which one it is but they are good kits considering the age of them late seventies early eighties.......

I had a tamiya tank kit in the late seventies, it was remote controlled via a box that was hard wired to the tank and only controlled the tracks and I believe you rotated the turret by hand. needless to say I was not impressed and I gave it to my cousin, wish I had kept the thing now

Before anybody reads any further let me assure everybody it is a few days since I went down the shed with a 5 litre tin of top grade cellulose thinners enamel paint and a compressor.

What I am about to suggest may seem like madness but has anybody thought about using a 25th scale tank to produce a 1/16 half track.

Yes I know it would mean lots of cutting and chassis/track shortening.

Rivet and myself look at it seriously at one time- a 1/25 panther could be the donor for a cheap 1/16 famo it could be worth looking at. The only that stopped us was the availability of cheap 1/25 kits-  Then rivet got seduced by the 1/6th dark side and I by a 1/16 hetzer.

The 1/25 could be a source of tracks etc for other things

I'm working on one of the 1/25 panther kit now by academy, and I know they were made to RC but do wonder what all has to be done to them to end up with a working RC model. For a static kit they are ok,but don't know how the tracks, sprockets, and road wheels would hold up as a RC tank. The roadwheels are only held on by little rubber end caps that will fall off very easy with any side preasure at all. There must be other methods for making one of these RC.Like to see a working one and how durable it is.                   BIGMIG  ;) ;)

P.S.  Mabe the Tamiya kits are better canidates for RC as I have never seen or built a Tamiya kit.Academy only has two 1/25 scale models that I could find, the panther I have being one of them. ;)
This kit was $36.00 dollars----

i have had mine for about 6yrs now with no problems r/cd using the h/long non s+s boards and a 6v battery noticed that yours are the later style "rubber"band type tracks mine are the earlier tamiya style abs track which you need to assemble

some people report the end caps falling off resulting in a lost wheel but i havent had this yet
the gearboxes arent brilliant but do the job ;)

had thought of putting in vstank electronics but got bitten by the larger 1/16
