Old men and new tricks ( RC gear )

Hi fellas
Well today I took my wallet for a walk. I am waiting for my El-mod TLS to be repaired by Thomas and in the mean time I thought that I would visit Colin Bliss models in Maldon in Essex to check out the RC kit.
Colin follows his Dad in being the European RC Helicopter champion......and an all round nice bloke too. Anyway...it is a good place to go cos his shop is an absolute mass of everything RC. The counter is awash with everything that has just come on the market... generally in pieces.....lots of pieces. Plus he stocks Tamiya paints.
Sue bought my heli from him at Christmas.....a 10 minute visit always turns into 3/4 hour chat...if you are lucky... to the point eh.......Colin has been an absolute fan of Futaba for 30 years but has now gone over to Spectrum. The reason is the versatility, usability and support of the kit. If it's good enuff for him why should I argue. I came away with the DX 6 i. We had the whole lot out all over the place....switched on and working...amazing. Now I have it home I havent a ruddy clue what to do with it...... you see the trouble is it is like a video recorder ....but I dont have a 5 year old around to work it. Have you ever noticed how kids can work these things perfectly while you are looking for the "on" switch.
Any way there it is on the table looking like a moon probe. The brilliant thing is that the reciever is about 1 inch square, its partner component is the same size. The aerials are about an inch long too...... so you dont need a huge aerial on the tank deck....it is redundant and you can chop it down to size and put it where it's supposed to be.
While I was in the shop, I saw the latest reciever...it weighs 2 grammes and is the size of the sim card in your mobile fone. What next eh?
So now I have a TX that I can use to control the El-mod Tger...the CD turret...and 1 channel spare to make the Commander wave as he goes past,,,,,,well I just viewed a Sherman with a speaker on the side of it .
Very skinny wallet now.........jam for dinner..........Mike
