RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

In regard to the above tank, I'm looking for some direction/advise on track adjustment. It does not have track adjusters that I can see so I guess the only way to adjust the track is to remove a link or two. The tracks seem very loose to me when I raise the tank off of the table. They also seem to want to jump out of the four top rollers or guides. The tank has metal tracks, drive wheels, and idlers. This is all new to me. Thanks for the help.

JT Hi, If you go to www.welshdragonmodels.com you will find that they sell ASIATAM TRACK TENSION ADJUSTERS, once you have them if you trawl the forum you will get lots of good advise on fitting and using them and if that dos'nt help come back and ask, plenty of us have carried out the mod shaun

Sorry Shaun... I have a set of those tensioners and they don't do much there isn't enough movement to make any difference....what you might want to try JT is this mod that sturm did
http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 38&t=12864...we were talking mods to the leaf springs..his mod looks like it lifts the tank just enough to take up some of the track slack....My PanzerIV runs loose... haven't had problems yet

It is hardly my place being only a mere Senior NCO to question the wisdom of a commisioned officer BUT!!!!! In my experience if the adjusters are properly fitted they work just fine, as my youngest Clare used to say "BOO SUCKS" usually followed by sticking her tongue out and running away at great speed whilst giggling like the 5 year old that she then was. shaun

I think Michael C said the same thing when we had the discussion...there's less than an eight of an inch in movement up or down with that adjuster..not enough to take up the slack for one link...to me it's not worth the trouble ...just easier to play with the suspension to take up the slack ....not to mention the tensioner put's the idler in an odd position if in one of the looser settings

Now if you are Talking PanzerIII tensioners... that's a different story...those work ...because they move in the correct directions which is forward and back

Sorry I wasn't of more help Jt...but even with that tensioner...I found I had to run my Panzer IV one link loose on both sides...it runs fine though...as my usual preference is to run my tracks with a bit of slack...usually an eighth of and inch to a little less than half and inch below the bogies ...that little play goes a long way lol...you might find it handy when going over obstacles

JT, I don't know what if any work you are planning to do on your PZ4 but if you are going to bring it up to spec the last roller on each side needs dropping, somewhere between 3mm to 5mm is the usual amount and that might affect the tension in the tracks. shaun

Hi Shaun- I've been into RC in some form or another since 1970. My latest venture, before tanks, were RC trucks and crawlers. I really went out of my way to make them as scale looking as I possibly could. Too much money. I think, at least for now, I will just try and make them run as efficiently as possible and not worry so much about the finite details. I do like to get out the air brush and make a few changes however. I'm 67 and have been "ridden hard and put up wet," I just want to have some fun now. With that being said, I do hope I can rely on your continued help.
