One Brand Man

Hi All
After much debating I am considering selling my tanks and concentrating on a single brand, building Tamiya tanks. The question that troubles me is this, can a rc tank collector/enthusiast simply choose to collect a certain brand. With the release drawing ever closer of HLs new tanks, The increasing quality of Taigens new releases,{Mato} will the collector be left drawling over the new additions. The point being do I really need 20+ tanks in the future to keep myself content or would a smaller collection of quality Tamiya's keep one happy, surely there must be a limit to how many tanks you can have in the house. Can the One Brand man exist with the growing variety available or will he be forced to buy a bigger house.....
Its a hard life

Do what makes you happiest I guess. Space is certainly a concern I can empathise with.
Apart from the JS2, Tamiya rarely releases new tanks so that is limiting! One space saver is replacing all your TX so you only need 1 RX. I guess I just buy Tamiyas now because I can spend more time on making them look good and less time correcting errors with the basic model and components. Taigan are getting close to it but they need stop using HL electronics. Many just rip them out anyway and replace with Clark, IBU, Elmod or Tamiya anyway.

Yes, yes you do. ;o) *chuckles* Seriously tho' At the rate that the Hobby is advancing and the brands contained within, you really shouldn't deny yourself the fun of having some of each. Billpe said it. Most Taigens and Heng Longs get their electronics replaced by Hobby Grade components and with the level of detail possible on any of them, they can sit beside any Tamiya and look good doing it. Running them is the end goal but I think I can safely say that for all of us, we wouldn't be doing this if we didn't also get great fun and satisfaction out of the builds as well.
regards,
Painless

Very good point Painless, but I like nearly everything that comes onto the market, would it not be a .good idea to specialise on one brand and become very good at what I am doing, rather than just know a bit about everything..

Stack em! LOL!
I have seen guys buy a bookcase and just fill the shelves, really doesn't take up much room at all...
On the brand thing I know it is a lot of hard work modding HL to a bare minimum standard but like Painless sort of said that is 1/2 the fun. And even with adding metal upgrades, Clark boards, sound, motors, gearboxes, and maybe a few other bells and whistles, I'm still at LEAST 1/2 the price of a Tamiya all up. I'm not bashing Tamiya at all. I wish I could have 20 + Tamiyas but with HL I can do it financially...

Think we are opposite though Jake.... you don't want a lot of tanks... I do

....I think my friends dgsselkirk and jarndice would agree... I know they do all kinds of brands...but the fun thing about Heng Long ..or even Taigen
Is you can do something like this with no conscience
But with a brand spanking new Tamiya....there might be a little hesitation.
Now setting that all aside Jake....SEND ALL UNWANTED NON TAMIYA TANKS TO ME
