Hey guys, I what to make some mudflap hinges for my tiger 1, I know how to do it I just have no idea what thickness/ gauge is appropriate, any ideas?. I have never worked with brass so don't know what thicknesses' are easily malleable but strong enough! Cheers dudes

20 to 24 gauge is good...24 might be a little light ...but it is the approx thickness of PE ...make sure you solder the hinge lips... as that thin gauge might open up again later

Hallo, I have built both front and rear fenders for a Tiger 1 using a VOYAGER PE set, it is both frail and unnecessarily complicated, If I were to build another set of fenders I would avoid any form of metal in the construction because to get the right scale of metal thickness will mean the fenders are too flimsy, When I started building mine I dispenced of a lot of PE and substituted 1mm plasticard, and were I to build fenders again that is the only material I would use except I would use 2mm, if you have access to a template of the front and rear fenders that would be my direction plus I would go to a Dolls House accessories web site for hinges and slide bolts, ordinary (small) dressmakers pins make first class rivets and are used to join the hinges and slide bolts to the plasticard, pin vise through the plasticard, push in the pin + a dab of super glue where the pins exit the back of the board, then when the glue is dry go round the back of the fenders with a pair of snips cutting the pins flush to the board, once painted you have a set of fully working front and rear fenders that will actually survive the knocks that a PE fender never will and look exactly right. shaun

Very interesting Shaun... I almost fabricated fenders for my L70....but when I thought about it... figured the fenders are the places I run into things the most ....So I just left the stock plastic ones...as they are proven to be resilient to most impacts ..............

I will post diagrams so that you can make templates, on request.
Please specify standard or "Africa" fenders.

OK, let's start with the rear mudguards for the first 30 or so Tigers, which went to Leningrad and Africa.

These are the full-size dimensions, I suppose you can divide by 16?





The item is the same for both sides, don't mirror it.
