This updates the post from August 18 on the Mato Mart sale on Ali Express, sale is over now ended on 8/20/14. The rest of the post below is as i made it on 8/18, I'd simply delete the post if i could but the best i can do is update so no one gets out-of-date information.
Some discounts end at midnight tonight August 19! Metal tracks and sets, wheels and more, if you're wanting these parts nows the time. Also a question there wasn't room in the subject line to mention it - QUESTION, I bought the MATO tiger 1 metal "sealed" tracks (for $50 shipped). I have the original plastic wheels and sprockets. I can't buy the metal wheels anytime soon. Can one of the resident experten PLease tell me, will the steel tracks work?

Re: Big sale MATO MART on Ali express. 15-30% metal tracks e
Hey Mark...It's usually better to run Metal Tracks with at least the Metal sprockets... metal tracks have some hard edges that will wear out the plastic ones

Re: Big sale MATO MART on Ali express. 15-30% metal tracks e
Not sure it's any help but I have original HL metal tracks running on taigan metal sprockets. The actual taigan sprockets dimensions appear to be the same as HL in every way. It's only asiatam stuff which has different dimensions when it comes to the socket to fit on the drive shafts. I would assume that Mato tracks will work since they produce upgrades for many HL tanks as do taigan and both are usually interchangeable with stock HL parts.
Now if you want, pm me your address. I'm pretty sure I have two painted original HL metal tiger 1 sprockets. They'll need to be stripped and they're missing the hubs and bolts but other than that they're perfectly fine. I don't intend to ever use them again because I'm all tiger'd out. It won't cost me anything to post them so you can have them for nothing. I know they'll be going to a good home which is payment enough. I can confirm tomorrow if I still have them, just let me know if you want them.
Metal tracks on plastic wheels is fine, they'll wear out but it will take a good long while. The idlers will last a bit but the plastic sprocket will probably wear out relatively quickly.
As a point, metal wheels aren't a big upgrade, they're overrated for what they are, put strain on both the gear boxes and hull and cost allot. They look kind of cool but like all this metal stuff, once painted they look the same as plastic - I have a set and can say this first hand. Where metal counts is hulls and bracing, suspension, gears and running gear other than wheels. Where metal holds some appeal is being able to solder onto it.
What is a big upgrade is separate road wheels with separate rubber tyres. I don't know if there are ones for HL (other than the metal ones ) though because they use an Allen key bolt though the front rathen than grub screws through the arm, so the Tamiya ones (probably cheaper and definitely better looking) won't without modification work unfortunately.
