Heng Long Pershing Rebuild

My HL Pershing is some 8 to 9 years old and using the RX-13 board and electrics. It runs flawlessly with the new metal gearboxes and replacement plastic sprockets and tracks I put in last year but the 280 motors are not up to long grass. The sand skirts are not helping. I've been wanting to do a rebuild of this tank since even before I saw how good 'In The Mood' turned out. I don't think that I will 'metal' this tank out but the possibility of the new HL RX -18 and the TX with the remote smoker and sound controls is good. A cosmetic redo is definite with some sprues of Tamiya parts and decals forming the basis of the refurbish. A Tamiya length airgun barrel is in the works and definitely some stronger motors. This build should be done long before the snow flies and Tiger-mania sets in. ;o) Pics:

Alpha,
I think a working metal tow cable to give the effect of the one on that photo as well as a working barrel travel lock will add some zest. I am going to remove the sand skirts so will need to add the fender braces front and rear. I'm toying with the idea of making the phone box lid workable and have the receiver inside it with a coiled up line.
regards,
Painless

Nothing in the post this weekend but I did source a modern turret and upper deck when contacted by Dave at Forgebear. Dave is pretty incredible at keeping us folk, building. ;o) I already have a couple of 380 motors with the right plugs for the RX-18 so that takes care of the old, original motors. All the Tamiya bits are located and some extra as well. I will need to order a couple of new idler mounts and idlers to get rid of slop in the old ones but things are coming together and moving ahead. Just one old pic this time: ( Well, maybe a couple )
