personally i'd have not bothered with the lichen, it spoils the tank as it looks as the others have said, like broccoli.

if you do intend using branches or bushes as camo try and get the roots from a privet hedge, they are perfect as branches, as for the lichen thin it out dab on some pva glue and sprinkle on some tea leaves or herbs paint it up and weather it along with the tank........
