hi guys, am an old modeller of static kits and RCcars, recently got into tanks owning pre built panzerIII, early production tiger and a panther all slightly modified/respayed all heng long, just built up a heng long/taigen late production DAK tiger 1 in full metal, heavy! pictures to follow if I can work out how! also binned the old heng long rx18 in the latest build and gone for an IBU2 and turnigy Tx and Rx really happy with the electroinics now , cant recommend enough! planning on a panther build next when funds allow(and another tiger for my nephews Christmas present and some IR Battling)! this site has been really amazing for info and tips through out my latest build so thanks guys you've really helped, just hope I can offer advice to anyone else attempting a similar build!

Hallo Leigh, welcome to the Forum, I think quite a few of us got drawn into this lunacy the same way as you, I hope I am not teaching an old dog to suck eggs, but the reason I have avoided buying a PANTHER is because the next thing you know your opening a box with a PAN-TIGER in it, not at all what I want. I remember the first time I went to Bovington as a visitor to the MUSEUM, I looked at the Panzer 4 (a medium tank) then walked round the corner to the Panther, again a medium tank and I could not believe just how much bigger the Panther was/is considering they both played the same role at the same point in the war, an experienced tank commander could hide a Panzer 4 behind a hedgerow, which in France was very handy, but you would never get away with it in a Panther. sorry Leigh just another hobby horse of mine! Enjoy the Forum, we do. shaun

hey jarndice! I made the pan-tiger mistake too! but looking forward to heng longs new panther and modifying it! its a lot more accurate than there previous attempt! as for the panzer IV it was only a 20-25 tonner, panther rocks out at 45 tonnes, better than weedy allied tanks and greatest of WWII, except for the weak final drive and petrol engine fires!thanks everyone for the welcome
