First:

What are those add-on covers over the engine vents for? How common were they?

Second:

The schurzen on a JagdPanther. How were they held on? And what measurements were they? Does anyone have a good close-up picture of the brackets holding them up, so I can try my hand at scratchbuilding them from plasticard and corner profile?

Good Morning, Lert,
The covers are late War anti aircraft protection for the engine grills and vents. For the mounts for the schurzen, please check out Jeff1101's fantastic Panther G build thread in Heng Long Builds. He does a step by step build of the Panther and covers the schurzen plates and their mounts in detail.
regards,
Painless

I've been told they also served to allow infantry to ride on the back

Thanks!

I already found sufficient answers on the WoT forum where I asked these same two questions.

This is more than enough for me to go on for the schurzen mounts, and the anti aircraft covers were, as I found out, both factory applied on very late JP's and field applied as well, where the crew would just cut up some schurzen plate and weld it over the vents on some posts. This 'field modification' idea appeals to me. Plus, it means that I won't have to be so accurate with measurements either.

Thanks for the replies, Painless and Tom. That is a wonderful build you've linked, Painless. I'm gonna go study that too.
