I'm not sure as to where I should post a subject, Yesterday I stopped by a friends house the sent me an email with pictures of his finished King Tiger that look absolutely stunning, and with that he had ask me if I could stop by and give him some help in figuring out why his recoil is not function,where all else everything is. well to my surprise he has this new Futaba 6js transmitter.I am unfamiliar with!so I called another friend that at the time was at work ,he gave me a quick synopsis,but of coarse I didn't get it! So can I ask for your help! Thank you for your responds to the fix.

So when the trim is all the way up and you push up on the stick the gun fires i.e. flash goes, sound of the gun but just the recoil doesn't work? Or does nothing happen? Do you hear the motor for the gun recoil at all?

I tried to look for the manual for the 53446, I had a link but can't find it - There is a switch on the Tamiya MF unit which makes the MF unit functions repeat i.e. fire the gun/recoil, light etc. Its only safe to use this if you've first checked the barrel and recoil system for blockages but it will tell you if the functions are working and are healthy.

It was my KT we were looking at - The 6J is all digital so moving the trim tab up just erodes the forward track function. I have not gotten any flash, or recoil from the tank. I'll check the MF and see if I can find the switch later today.

I use two different Futaba units both with digital trims and they are relatively easy to set up and a bit easier to use in my opinion once you have them going - instead of fiddling with trim levers you just flick a switch to engage the recoil and fire functions. THe below is how I set my 6EX up so your one might have the D/R switch in a different position on the unit but should be basically the same in the menu options.

The thing to do is set the dual rate settings for channels 1, 2 and 4 – channel three is the throttle so does not have this. Before you start doing this for each channel make sure that the D/R switch on the top front right of the transmitter is in the down position. Next go through channels one at a time setting them to 100% with the switch in the down position. You then need to move the switch to the up position and set each channel to 120%.

The next thing I did was set the end point adjustments on channels 1 and 4 to 120% leaving the rest at 100%.

The last thing that needs programmed on the handset is to set the Fail Safe to 50% - this is very important as it makes channel 3 go to the mid position which on the tank is neutral.

Next step is to plug the various leads from the DMD unit into the receiver. I don’t plug them in as the manual suggests as it means that channel 3 is not the throttle and the other things are a bit mixed up when using mode 1 but wanting the drive and steering on the right hand stick. What you need to do is put the leads from the DMD into the receiver in the following order:

DMD Receiver
J1 -? CH1
J2 -? CH3
J3 -? CH2
J4 -? CH4

That should be you installed ready to set the DMD up. Do this according to the Tamiya manual but it is important that you set the tank up with the D|R switch on the transmitter in the down position.


Once everything on the DMD is programmed you should be ready to go.

When you want to fire the gun or use any of the options that would need to have the trim switch moved on a standard (old type) transmitter you can push to D/R stick up and the gun will fire, machine gun go or lights work when you move the appropriate stick. When you want to disable the features and just run the tank or turn turret then with the switch in the down position the other bits will not work (eg no gun fire etc) The added benefit of having it set up as I describe is that if your battery fails in the transmitter or the tank goes out of range then it will just go to idle as the fail safe will kick in.
