Planet t5 seem to be well loved by most of the Manchester club. Something with analogue trims makes installing fire buttons more simple. Only downside is the rx are £15 each. Hobby king do cheap 2.4ghz gear, I've bought the turnigy 9x with 5 rx and backlight kit for £70 posted

Hi The Planet 5 is probably the best value radio , there are shops will put the stick return I for a few pounds ,so you should be able to buy one for around £55 + postage . Tamiya DMD/MF units can have trouble with digital trims ,the trims o the planet are analogue so you wont have any problems ,you can have more than one model on a radio just bind to a new receiver and both will work (just make sure you only have one switched on at a time)So works out quite cheap to do another model .
Easy to use and havnt heard of any problems with people using them.
  regards pete

A long as its configurable, digital trims work fine with Tamiya electronics. The Spektrum DX6i for example works perfectly - in fact better than perfect because you can set the guns to fire from switches

The dx5 is ok, you just need to calibrate the dmd. However as I said its more tricky to add fire buttons to digital trims

I've mentioned this one before and at £26 delivered it's a good buy.
I've been using them for some time and not had any problem.
