Hiya All,
Got given my first HL Tiger 1 (non S+S) last year, caught the bug and bought another (S+S) of fleabay -which I've upgraded with metal hull and bits (thanks to Dave at Forgebear).
I'll be in need of assistance soon, as the reverse has stopped working, only on one side of the early HL Tiger (has that infernal TK1 board). A mate reckons it's the toggle on the 27mhz controller(?)
No hurry to sort it out though

Good Afternoon Chops,
Welcome to the Forum. Pictures of your Tigers when you get the chance, please. We love to chat and discuss armor around here, repaired and in need of repair. For your early Tiger 1, open it up and have a look at the boards. There could be a burnt or smoked area that you will see. If so, you can upgrade to one of the newer boards or complete sets fairly cheaply. If it is the TX, those are easy to come by as well. Instructions on how to open the tank up can be found in the How-To sections of the Forum.
regards,
Painless

Cheers for the welcome.
I'd already changed a slightly smokey capacitor but no joy.
I'm a bit disheartened with the old Tiger, especially after attempting to replace the broken nylon gearboxes (occurred with prev owner). I wrecked the painted plastic drive sprockets (centres were seized in with varnish, paint or glue) -ended up cutting them open and ended up substituting silver sprockets from the S+S Tiger.
I'll source (or borrow) another controller to check my mates theory about the toggle contacts being poor. I have already taken my controller apart (that was a messy job!). I polished, adjusted and greased the contacts but no joy.
Once I've calmed down :-< I'll try and get some photos up
