New to RC Tanks

Hi I am a new to RC tanks, normally build boats and cars, scratch built and kit/scratch. I have bought an all metal Tiger 1 Porche kit from Tank Zone. the instructions that come with this are pretty poor, and on a PDF which you can not read too well. I have asked Tank Zone for more information but they just refer me to the disk. Has anyone got any instructions that they could scan and let me have please. The kit comes with all the extras, smoke, recoil, metal tracks etc. and I would like to get on and start nuilding, but I can't even check what parts I should have! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Ferdy1001

Welcome ferdy... Too bad you didn't find us earlier...you would have found Tank Zone is not a great place to do business ...with that said... What brand of model did you buy?... I assume it's a Mato...Personally I am not familiar with Mato's electronics ... but if you can give us more specifics on what units you are using in the tank perhaps photos ...I'm sure there is someone who knows :D

Enjoy the adventure...yours has just begun

Hi I am sure the Tank is made by Asiatam . they also made a metal elephant . The turret is the standard metal turret that fits on to any Heng Long /mato Tiger . The Electrics are the standard Heng long (which you may want to change for something with better sounds and more power, IBU,El-mod or Tamiya electrics ) If you are going to fit other electrics, you may be able to sell the ones supplied as a kit either on here or E-bay.
If you fit the electrics supplied you can find the wiring diagrams' on this forum ,as for the assembly of the kit , I havnt seen one on here before, but have seen a Elephant build on RCU(you will have to search on there for it). I do know from other types of Porsche lower hulls (hooban elephant) that the wheel and suspension alignment is very important to get it right.

Here is a link to the metal elephant http://mmodell.de/forum/index.php?page= ... c96082bef4

Thanks for all the quick answers, it is not a Mato, but looks similar. I have added some pictures (I think) of the quality of the model, and the logo, so much doesn't fit! at £590.00 really not happy with this. I have no ideal what is missing as I have no readable parts list. I think it is probably a chinese copy, although the tracks are Taigen.
I have asked Tank Zone for a refund which they have refused, so I have asked again, last chance before trading standards!
Let hope they see sense!

Ferdy,
It looks like an Asiatam but no luck on their site or on Mato's. You have something really cool there that despite Tankzone's obstinate refusal to assist, will make a great RC tank. It would be worth it to resolve the troubles with the disk and print out some instructions that you can read and go forward with it. Ask questions here. If we know ( and it is vanishingly small odds that we will not ) the members of the forum will be glad to give info and advice.
regards and good luck whatever you decide to do,
Painless

Well I have been model making, maily scratch built boats and formular one (1960's) cars, for 40 years, I would have been better starting my self instead of wasting £600? the casting on the drive sprocket won't allow these to go anywhere near the rear drive shaft, the front bearing are completely a diffent size to the shaft and it goes on. I am all for making things work, but this and the attitude of Tankzone puts me right off. All I want is a decent model to build, preferably all metal construction, if not then mainly metal. This certainly isn't what I expected, especially as there appears to be so much missing. If I have the instructions that might help!

Hello ferdy.. so sorry to hear you are off to such a rough start...If your kit is so unsatisfactory... I might ask how did you pay for it... if by Paypal..take the issue up there... If Tank Zone wants to play Hardball... You might not have any choice but play the game... file a claim ...take it to the limit..if they do not refund your money... as an extreme punishment...Paypal will freeze their account ....I had an experience before with an Airsoft dealer....It took awhile...but in the end.. Paypal did inform them if they did not make the effort to resolve the issue... the account would be suspended and they would no longer be able to use their account or receive money through their credit line ...bottom line is... I thank the online gods for paypal... will not do business with anyone who doesn't take it ;)

Good Luck with your Tank

Hi If they are using Standard Heng Long Gearboxes the shafts are 8,2 mm and the bearings will be standard 8mm bore ,so they will be very tight to fit ,the only way to get them on is to polish the shafts down to make them fit. But this can mean the sprockets my be a little slack (catch22),you could try freezing the gearboxes and putting the bearing in boiling water it may help(you have to be quick and you only get one shot). You could ask Edwin who is a member on here he is also a moderator on a German forum he may know of a build link on the German forum here is a link to one of his posts P.M. him and ask http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 23&t=12764
