Withdrawing from contributing to this forum for a while

I have decided to stop participating in the discussions on this forum at least for a while.
In the past I have enjoyed adding my views and opinions to the discussions here, but of late I find myself dismayed at the lack of tolerance and acceptance of differing opinions by some contributors. Some just seem unable to accept that because something is not completed or carried out to their satisfaction that others might be content with the result they have achieved, and then seem to feel the need to persist in pointing this out.
Whilst I am all for encouraging the development of new modelling skills and knowledge, I do not see a need to repeatedly refer in public to something which is disagreed with. I think that at times such "encouragement" can be best carried out via PM rather than in public on a thread. I appreciate then that in these circumstances others do not then recieve the benefit of the "advice" offered, but it does offer the recipient the opportunity of not feeling repeatedly criticised in public.
I am not suggesting that all threads should only contain positives and praise of the builds concerned, but that the differing opinions of others should be considered and accepted, and not pursued with comments which may be perceived as provocative or attacking.
So for the time being at least I will just be an occasional visitor here, and will not be contributing to any threads.
I wish you all well in your tanking and other modelling efforts
Paul

Paul,
I wish you would not leave and ask that any absence you deem required to be short in duration. Your help and balance will be sorely missed. See you soon.
Warm regards,
Painless

Sad to hear that Scalawag...You are a Gentleman and a Scholar... as well as a long time member who has gained much respect of everyone on the board
To some degree I understand your sentiments..... there are many valid points for everyone to consider.... it's too bad the comradery that once existed here... has been tarnished by the breakdown of another board
Which inevitably means this board may follow in the same footsteps
With the loss of Fynsdad.. and you Scalawag... the foundations of this board Shudders ....hopefully it can endure
Have a good one Scalawag
Happy Tanking

Thank you for your very kind words Alpha,
I do feel I need to say that my decision to not contribute for the time being has nothing to do with other forums "breaking down" as far as I am aware. I am not sure where you have gotten that impression from.
I assume that you are referring to a spat between two UK based clubs a while ago, however I believe that to all be in the past, and to the best of my knowledge those whose recent contributions here I have found challenging were never a part of that disagreement.
I am a member of several other RC tank forums, and I just don't see on them the need of some individuals to dominate which I have seen here of late.
I may well start to contribute again in the future, but for now I need to break from this forum.
Paul

You are welcome Scalawag....To elaborate on any comments I have made would be frivolous ...as things were told to me in confidence
with that said... thank you for addressing me... I hope you do so more in the future
Have a great weekend Scalawag,(Paul)
Happy Tanking

As a new member to this forum it think that if you post something you expect both positive and negative feedback this gives a true representation of what you are asking or showing. I think that if I posted something I would expect both comments and with that gives me the insight where I could improve on my modelling. But for you to feel like this Scalawag is just wrong I read a lot of posts and would like your Input when I post so you will be missed.

Oh Paul please I hope you think again, your contributions have helped many of us to face the build with greater knowledge and an insight into improving our abilities, on a wider point, the biggest problem with this or any text based Forum is exactly that, facial expression in speech often turns around our opinion of what is being said and combine that with a lack of skill in penmanship you can develop a total misunderstanding of the writers intent, I know one of the things the British are noted for is sarcasm, I have long since learned that a text based Forum is the worst place in the world if you want to be misunderstood using that particular form of humour. I will regret and miss your presence if you do not change your mind, but whatever, thank you for what you have given us. Take care old friend. shaun

scalawag sorry to see you go, thank you for all the advice and encouragement you have shown to my efforts posted and your sharing of knowledge with us. Hope you come back soon. I will miss seeing your builds on here they were a source of inspiration to those of us still learning. Happy tanking.
