Well... I stepped in it this time

So the local hobby shop has been clearing out some unwanted kits for half price and less, and being the kind of guy I am... I picked up a pair for about $15 a piece without pausing to think about what might be inside. First up is the Sherman, this one is from Dragons 90's line up of vehicles and actually doesn't look too difficult (only 436 pieces so... not insanely over the top in terms of difficulty) [I'll post pictures tomorrow since photobucket is being difficult tonight]

Second one... well I should've probably checked the part count but... It's a Marder II from Dragons newer "smart kit" series and... well... at 700+ parts I think I'm in over my head. Damn thing seems to have more parts than the REAL Marder II

That said, I'm incredibly impressed by the amount of detail Dragon builds into their molds. I'll be sure to document this crucible of a build as I fail my way through it

Anyway, how does one put these "smart tracks" together? Addendum: does it require the same level of frustration as trying to fit Trumpeter tracks that are far too long onto a model they were clearly not designed for?

Also, they have a Dragon FCM 36 mit PAK 40 smart kit for about the same price back at the shop, so if it's still around (and I still haven't inadvertently caused the Marder II to explode) by the time my next paycheck rolls around I might go back and grab that too.

You have a model shop nearby!!! Good heavens Sergei I thought they only existed in legend. Still at least you won't have to make special plans for your retirement, your Marder will take care of that, I hope your eyesight holds up till the end of the build , have fun old friend!!!! shaun

Have to admit though Serge... this thread got me thinking...(a bad thing)... got me thinking about a Crimbo gift I have laying around ..decided to give it a shot...

93 links per side

...in order to make it RC... will have to drill out each link ...align bore each link...join them together and check the flex...Did ten links one hour each
Considering that's not even including sorting out the links or turret functions

Now it's back to my Panther... figure I can get that done in the time it would take to do the tracks
