What scale are you going to build to?

I recall Halcyon having a kit for it once... think it's out of print... but it's still out there if you look hard enough

Have a good one Mcevoyi

POLAR LIGHTS??????????????????? :O ...There goes an arm and a leg :haha: the Halcyon kit was by no means a bargain.. but those Polar Lights guys treat old molds like they are gold :haha:

It's fortunate you are a great scratchbuilder...there is actually a lot more info about the Apc than you might think... found a couple more blueprints when I did my search... but they weren't as clear as the one I presented...blown up the images might be more helpful
Good luck with the build Mcevoyi...wondering where you are going to get those wheels ;)

Great minds and all that Mcevoyi, I've had this in the works for a while now :)

That's a Tamiya WT01 chassis with TL01 front steering arms all round to get the 4 wheel steering. The WT01 chassis is symetrical front and back as well as side to side so it makes fitting a 2nd steering servo very easy. It can also be converted to 4WD simply by fitting another gearbox. With the shorter TL suspension arms and 96mm tyres it's pretty much a match for the Halcyon 1/35 kit.

Just waiting for a bit of free time to build the body and I'll be making it to fit the chassis. I suspect it should be around 1/16ish needing figures roughly around 100mm tall.

I thought so to :) I've wanted to build the APC for years but do it right.

Tamiya RC cars is my main passion these days so I treated myself to a new Tamiya Blackfoot3 last year and as I was building it I thought "with shorter suspension arms this would be perfect for the Aliens APC". Still had my old APC kit in bits so I dug that out and worked out the rough proportions in relation to the wheel diameter and wheelbase between the front and rear axles. Turned out I already had a set of wheels that fitted pretty close. I was lucky and found this chassis going cheap on eBay so I've been collecting the parts together and working out what I want to do with it ever since.

I'd already done the 4 wheel steering conversion on the Blackfoot3. It just involved opening the 2nd steering servo and swapping the power cables over to the servo motor and circuit board... 20mins with a soldering iron and it was done! Used a Y link to run both servos from a single receiver socket. Looked great but maybe not the most sensible thing to considerably sharpen the steering on a fast, top heavy monster truck :) It should really set of the APC though as it's quite an obvious feature.

The only other thing I want mine to do is have the top turret traverse from the stowed position on the rear panel, up and onto the roof in a deployed position. I'm not that bothered about it moving after that so I've been working out the best way to go ahead with a 3 channel system.

Rocketman keeps offering to buy it from me as I've not done anymore to it for ages but I'm waiting for the right time to get the build rolling and take my time to enjoy it, rather than rush the thing. It's also fun winding him up about it too :D

If you're interested these chassis are used on the following Tamiya cars and they crop up used on eBay every now and then.

Blackfoot 3
Blackfoot Extreme
Mud blaster 2
Bush Devil 2

Or in 4x4 as

Dual Hunter
Twin Detonator

The gearboxes hang from the chassis halves and are self contained. All the suspension arms and shocks mount onto the gearboxes. The 2wd ones have a blank replacement on the front but the 4wd have a 2nd gearbox and use a speed controller that can handle two motors.

If you want anymore pics let me know and I'll post some up.
