Hey, just registered and wanna say yo!

My 12 year old son and I just entered into this hobby as of last year, we started with Taigen HC Metal Series Late Tiger I BB and the Taigen HC Metal Series KV-1 BB which recently saw modification to the German captured variant of the KV-2 thanks to the plug and play Torro BB Turret kit.

Also have a Mato M4A1(76)w that has been reasonable (metal tracks, sprocket, idler and bogies, modded turret ring to lower it) but will be seeing an upgrade (kinda) to the electronics. At least replacing the Mato internals with a spare Heng Long RX18 setup I had lying around for awhile now.

Future Tanks: All metal or mostly metal Stug III, King Tiger Henschel turret (Likely the Torro metal version) once they come to North America distribution, which I hear is rumoured through IMEX who distributes Taigen here as well.

Also in the future is the possibility of the IR and recoil systems on these tanks as well as the Clarke or similar system upgrades. For now there is no known Tank Club in my City so IR battles are not possible in large numbers, we just fire BBs at each others tanks and targets for now.

Cheers and Happy Tanking everyone!

I Wanted to welcome you to the forum, and your son. This is a great hobby for the family. I live in Tennessee and we have an IMEX dealer here in Memphis, I have the Torro King Tiger Metal edition and may well be one of the few.Although I received mine through Torro. If they do become available I will certainly post the news. I will say this,it is a fine tank. Well constructed and a good running, durable Tank.

Enjoy the forum experience, and feel free the message me if I may be of service.

All the best,Blake

BFT2002,

I know this is probably still pretty far, but there is a event on May 31st weekend at the Oshawa Tank Museum and a whole bunch of us from the CanAm tank club is going to set up a field for IR battle as a demonstration.

Also, If you are looking for dealer for non-Mato stuff, give Immortal Hobbies a try. He is based out of Barrie, Ontario. Just google his website.

Sweet, thanks for that info. I was driving to Kingston to get the basic tanks from Leading Edge and then a small order here and there from Erik at IMEX in Florida, had no idea about Immortal Hobbies.

Thanks to everyone else for the warm welcome!

I'm still fumbling with how to post pictures here though. I just finished detailing the KV2 in a 3-tone German paint scheme for the boy, he;s over to moon on how it turned out, He plays World of Tanks so having an RC KV-2 is pretty awesome for him. I used to model in 1/72 and 1/35 stuff as a teen, I love the 1/16 scale though, but more recently I don't seem have the extreme patience some of the superb modelers have on this and other forums to super detail everything, so I go for a "works for me" look to my tanks. I do the simpler mods, like lowering the Mato M4A1(76)w turret, removing the over-sized plastic barrel and remodeling the metal insert to look like a barrel etc... I'll detail what I did to my three tanks (so far) once I get the posting pics part down.

Edit: Looking at other posts, I'm now guessing I use a system like Photobucket to post pics, then link them here.

BTF, I know lots of folks use Photobucket but I just resize the pics and then use the Full Editor function here and attached them to the post directly.
