Greetings Gents .... since some opportunities have come to past... My Heng Long Panzer IV is getting a rebuild ....
Image
Image
Over all ... I didn't think the Panzer IV needs too much...it's a nicely detailed model IMO...the weakness to me was the suspension... it works great... but because of the Plastic casting.... the wheel assemblies bow to the side ..so I changed them to Taigen units
http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 38&t=12864
This is how the chassis sits currently ... new suspension..new tracks sprokets and idlers
Image
and since I installed a 2.4 gig rig in my Sherman...this once basic version got a full internal upgrade... steel gearboxes... smoker ... sound ... the whole shibang :D
Image
Image
Though the steel gearboxes aren't really necessary for this tank... they are quieter...offer very smooth operation..reliability ...and to add to the tanks unsprung weight due to the stiffer suspension :D

Happy Tanking... Tally Ho... PiP PiP... and Panzer Vor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Image

Alpha,
It's looking great! You're getting somewhere with it. Are you planning on redoing the paint?

Painless

Hey Painless... I really don't want to... as the color is perfect as it is... but I don't think I can avoid not painting her... as It would be hard for me to deal with a two tone paint job ;)

I think I can custom mix the color alright... and get it close.... the upside is I would be able to texture the surface like on the models that did get paint jobs ..

But that's a little further off in the future at the moment ... still have to take care of the lower hull details...but all in all ... she should still look the same as she does now

Take care Painless Enjoy the "visitor" ............ ;)

Alpha,
Thank you. I certainly shall. It looks like Sunday is going to be the day. I have time free on Friday and Saturday as well but the Visitor's family is keeping him very busy ( as it should be, I don't mind being in the Second Theater of Operations at all ;o)
regards,
Painless

Very nice. Since seeing your posts on Girls und Panzer I have become a fan. I had a Panzer III with a paint scheme I do not like gathering dust so have decided to paint it up as a Girls und Panzer tank. Elmod unit fitted so might even add some music from the cartoon. :D

Sounds Cool John... especially the music part... there is no rule to GIRLS UND PANZER.... as I've made concessions in my replication of the tanks in the Anime
I've done two Panzer IIIs....the Student consul's tank
Image
and my first tank ever... the OARAI No.6 tank
Image
both wrong in a Hard Core GIRLS UND PANZER fan's eyes ...as the Panzer III was actually used by the KUROMORIMINE (Black forest peak) school
Image
But the main idea is to have fun ...it's definitely a different way of looking at tanks...this guy took it to the limits...painting his "real" Panzer III in the OARAI school's way
Image
even though he painted the fish in the wrong direction... I put money on it he had a great time ;)
And here's a song you can put on that elmod

Good Luck with yours John

I did the kuromorimine version. Did'nt worry too much about what version. Just went with the model I had. Might redo the Tiger 1 also.
I will get photos at the weekend.

Cool... I'd like to see your photos....KUROMORIMINE is probably the most traditionally painted tanks

the Tigers being the only ones to have numerical designations

but Hey man... bring that Panzer III... I'd really like to see the job you did on it

The one thing good about the KUROMORIMINE school... is that most of the tanks they used are available in 1/16th scale... the rest of the schools use variants ....OARAI .. some of the harder to find older tanks...to which if you are up to the challenge... they can be made :D

Just a note of distinction, Black Forest Peak drove an Elefant, not a Ferdinand. The difference is a little bow MG that the Elefant has but Ferdinand lacks.
