Thank you very much Cody . that is exactly the type of drawing I need.
I do not wish to throw kindness away, these drawings are for the M88 A1 the early version. The differance is the crane and winch unit this version had a single side mounted jib crane , The M88A2 had an uprated twin boom crane capable of lifting 32 tons and a front mounted winch capable of 76 ton pull, also the engine and intakes was altered to suit a twin turbo V12 1067HP desiel monster of a engine
Two off M88A1 units was required to pull a single Abram Tank , where upon only a single M88A2 was required to do the same job.
I can use these drawings to get the overall layout. But if anyone knows where to find ( or a site to visit ) similar drawings of the latest version I would be very grateful.
Thank you very much Denzil

Hi there Denzil

I know this is not much help ....i tried to find drawings for year !....in the end i got my hands on the revell m88a1 ..which is the same kit as the afv club one ...and scaled up .....i know its a pain ...but its the only way and its a ' 3D ' drawing which will help explain the engine deck lay out and back crew compartment

Shape wise its quite a complicated beast with a lot of aeras that are cast metal and not welded plate ...

Hope in a way that helps ...i've seen kist on evilbay go for £15 to £20 ...

Iain

As a prior US Army 63H track vehicle mechanic, I can say with actual knowledge and having been assigned both beasties, the M88A1 and M88A2 Herc. are the same machine under the skin. Both used the same hull and suspension. The difference in the two was the A2 received an added layer of plate armor, stiffer tortion bars for weight, square frame boom in place of the round tube, and stronger version of the same motor....injector pump and turbo blades were changed. That being said, a model of the A1 can be updated to A2 specs. Also, other drawing in post#2 are of the Leopard based ARV Germany used. If you do a Google search of M88A2 dash 10 Manuel or service Manuel, you may be able to find a PDF of the machine in scale.

OOhh yes please  you have hit the nail on the head ! them's the ones. Thank you to everone who has helped out  I have spent ages trying to find some drawings like these. All I could find find was photo's. I have the squadron book on the M88 which has about 200 photo's in it but nothing to scale them to. So these drawings are a god send. I will also try those links you gave.
I owe you guys Thank you.

Great!
Now tell me you are doing this in 1/16th scale correct?

I get, in 1/16th...
Width of 9.00"
Length of 21.247"
Height of 7.31" (With wire cutter 9.6")

HEHEHE...this way I can scale them so you don't have do a whole lot of math...
With the wire cutter...it will be 9.6 inches tall! :O
