Do Magnets Affect the HL Electronics?

The RX18 or receiver? Magnet mounting seems an easy way to mount the RX18 box almost anywhere in the hull. But given how fragile these electronics are, especially the mosfets, who wants to risk it? Unless someone has done it and knows what will happen?
For my part I did a search and no results and I also had a look at google just searching "do magnets affect circuit boards". And the opinions were mixed. One guy claimed to be an electronic designer and that "I have been designing circuits to work near magnets due to the devices i design and there is no problem". Others claim magnets could affect the mosfets or circuit boards.
Does anyone have an opinion or ideas on this?

Good Morning,
I either mount with a screw post if one is available and does not have the unit interfering with the turret rotation or main gun elevation. Otherwise, I use removable 3M doublestick. No issues so far from vibration or heat.

it sounds a bit iffy to me
what's wrong with double sided tape?

I use self adhesive velcro to fix some electronics in my tanks. Fixes things down well, and the components are still removable when they need to be.

I actually did glue on velcro to affix the r x18 to the rear inside hull but I plan on adding a glue on fan to the case. And the velcro does hold the unit well enough but its weak and flimsy. This would not matter but when I add the fan I'm thinking the added weight might make it fall off in use

Hi Marc
I definitely would not use magnets in very close proximity to electric components - just in case. If you are concerned about cooling an RX18 you could perhaps just open up its plastic case and then double sided tape the circuit board into the base and mount it in the tank minus the top section of the case.

When I bought my first Heng Long Panzer 4 the RX18 was secured to the side of the hull by cushioned double sided tape so that when I changed the RX18 I used the same form of tape to hold the new 2.4 board, I figure if it is good enough for the factory it is good enough for me. shaun

In general Mark... magnets have no effect on circuits...but why take the risk.... they aren't good for what you want to do as they add "profile" to the board...what you have to remember is you are working in a space with limitations... as the others have suggested two sided foam back tape is what the factory uses..I'm like scalawag... and use velcro
As an added reason not to use magnets... if they come loose..and touch any soldered points on any of your boards... that board is dead... too many magnets will also interfere with your reception ...and in the long run can harm your plastic

If you are just using magnets to mount the upper hull to the lower hull it really won't be close enough to do any interference (if it actually does). On the otherhand, I am not too sure I would use magnets to mount the actual RX-18 unit itself......

Just to add to MICHAELs comment, do make sure you screw the magnets into position I would never rely on glue alone. shaun
