Orphan WSN Tiger 1 rescued

Well,I just had to take her in... a slightly battered WSN Tiger 1 (without a handset) for £3 from the MIND charity shop in Bakewell.
I've already had a number of Heng Long Tigers pass through my hands (and three remaining), a Tamiya Tiger 1, quite a lot of the Hachette 'Build Your Own' tank and, for curiosity's sake, the Hobby Boss kit (still unbuilt) - but it's still interesting to see the WSN Tiger up close.
As I think we all know by now, the Hobby Boss kit is pretty much the WSN tank in bits without the electronics. It's also the mid-production version as opposed to the early one portrayed by Tamiya and Heng Long.
Obviously without a handset (anyone have a spare?!) I am in no position to evaluate the electronics (and yes, I know some people have a very poor opinion of them!), but - with a few strange exceptions - WSN should generally be congratulated for their attention to detail. Among those exceptions are the fact that the loader's hatch is non-opening (and even the commander's is glued shut), some bumps on the lower front glacis plate (to accommodate the driving gears) and some very strange details around the engine grills.
But, all in all, I think it's quite impressive. Best of all the turret looks to be the right length and to sit correctly on the hull.
It's just a shame about the gears / electronics (from what I have read).
So what do I do with it? Some suggest replacing the entire lower hull with a HL substitute, but I would hate to lose all of that wheel detail (the road wheels are accurately split into two parts, unlike HL).
So how easy is it to fit the HL motors, etc into the WSN / Hobby Boss hull?
