WSN Tiger I vs Tamiya Tiger I

Ok before anyone responds with how insane it is to compare them please hear me out.

About a year ago I bought a WSN Tiger I and a Atak Tiger I zimmerit kit for the Tamiya Tiger I as I assumed back then that the WSN/Trumpeter Tiger must be a copy of the Tamiya Tiger I.

I don't have a Tamiya Tiger I to compare it to and now I see that Atak has a new Zimmerit kit for the hobby boss/WSN Tiger I. After seeing this I assume that there must be enough differences to warrant it's own kit.

I don't want to waste my money though if the Tamiya kit will work on the Wsn Tiger I.

If anyone has both to compare side by side that would really be great!

Hi J.

I haven't tried to fit the Tamiya zimmerit to the WSN / Trumpeter/ WSN Tiger 1, although I have both (and HL Tigers). I suspect that the zim can be made to fit with 'a bit of work' but there are dimensional differences to all these tanks.

The biggest problems are likely to be fitting the zim around the hull furniture on the rear panel and the mantlet.

To be honest you are probably best off doing it yourself with putty and a screwdriver / saw or buying the custom Atak set and selling the old one on ebay...

You can see my trials and tribulations with the Taigen 'stick on' zimmerit with my HL Normandy Tiger at the link below.

Hope this helps...

I do my own Zimmerit with Imperial stamps when I have to but if a high quality kit is made for it I usually will get ti to save on the time. It takes time as you know (I saw your Tiger build and it looks great) and it is also something that has to be done in sections. Ataks kits are great so if I can get one for whatever I am doing I do.

Anyone need a Atak Tamiya Tiger I kit? :D

Greetings fellow tank-nuts. I have a serious problem with my WSN Tiger I & my T 34. I need help from someone who might know what the problem is, and how I can fix it. Both of them just came to a halt while I was using them and now neither of them will even turn on. The RC unit still turns on and, I assume, still functions just fine, but the tanks themselves just plain refuse to work. I've checked the batteries and the terminals, but all are OK. I haven't taken either apart because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have a clue what to look for except maybe to test the wires with a voltage indicator. Do they have a problem with any circuit boards or things of that nature? I didn't use them much and would have got maybe 3 hours use out of each tank before they stopped running.
