Is sporadic BB shooting normal?

I'm working on this Heng Long Sherman and even with the stock barrel in place when I fire the gun it only actually fires about once every 3 or 4 shots that I hear it making the sound effect for. I hear the enteral mechanism snapping as it does when the BBs come flying out but no BB. Also sometimes one or two will just fall out of the end of the barrel when I'm trying to make it shoot, sometimes it will shoot out two at once, I guessed that was one shooting out and hitting another that had just dropped into the barrel.
My question is this normal?

'Blanking' is not uncommon , HL's BB's are pretty rough and can snag on each other or even jam in the hopper , they will also damage the rubber seal over time . I use aftermarket polished ones ( try Fleabay ) they are much better !

Both of mine tend to missfire occasionally - I put it down to the hopper not feeding proper as blimp says. I've never had two come out together though - neat trick!

Hi
Just purchased some 6mm polished bb ammo of ebay,My Sherman still fires sporadically though so need to investigate further.
The type I got was quoted at .23g and with a 1000 in a bag they do weigh quite a bit,so when it does manage to fire one the range is quite small,so has anyone git a recommended weight that should be used please.?
