One controller to rule them all

I was thinking that by the time my collection is done I will have many tanks and I don't want to dig through a big box of controllers to find the right one all the time so I wondered is there a controller that can run them all? This may be a stupid question but that's how we learn. I know they all run on different frequencies but I don't know much more than that.. Need some wisdom on this

If your using the older Heng Long radios, you just need to get some crystals which match. i.e. controller on crystal 1 then all the tanks on crystal 1 as well. Just be aware though the crystals come in pairs the one marked TX has to go in the transmitter and the one marked RX has to go in the tank.

I use after market electronics in my tanks. Like SLU's Clark boards and the new IBU...I can run them all from my Spectrum DX 7. I did a demo at weekend where I switched to three tanks on the battlefield driving one , stopping, switching to another, then another because the dx7 transmitter carries a programme for individual models its simply a case of flicking between themand as its 2.4 ghz you dont need to worry about crystals as each tank has a reciever which is bound to my transmitter

Hi If you change the electrics inside the tanks to Clark/IBU/later versions of the DBU ,you can run them all with one radio like the Planet5 or similar, it all depends on your budget, with the 2,4ghz radio you don't have to worry about channel clashes. It is something to think about when you are planning upgrades.
For the time being if you have 27mhz radio (not the new 2,4ghz heng long radios )you can just change the crystal in the radio to one in the tank ,you will have to mark the tank on the underside which crystal is fitted (after you have change crystals in the radio a few times it may start to act up they can loose contact on the pins and stop transmitting)

You can run all of them with one radio in theory as long as you equip them properly. Old HL 27Mhz you just need to use the same crystals like everyone says, with the new 2.4 Ghz Taigen you just need to bind your radio to the tank whenever you run a different tank. For Clark/IBU you just need to bind each receiver to the same radio.

Now, if you have different tanks with different setups (i.e. Some HL stock, some Taigen 2.4Ghz and some Clark/IBU) then you will need a radio for each different electronics.
