I drove my tank for half an hour today, on grass and concrete. It drove fine and i was having a good time scaring tthe neighborhood dogs being walked...until i turned it off then back on, and now it will go forward, will go backward, but it wont turn! I measured voltage at the motor connectors they do not get voltage when the lever is pressed hard left or right for a turn nor when they are pressed diagonally for the turns..it will only go forwards and back thats it!

I charged and replaced the transmitter battery, charged the tank battery. Held the antenna of transmitter close as possible. I just don't get this issue, if the board were fried wouldn't it just do nothing? I will replace whatever it is but i have no idea what to replace...the transmitter? The circuit board? The motors? does anyone know what can the problem be and how do i test to find out?

By the way if you have this same circuit board and need one..it is called the TK01 or TK-01 board. It is the same one used on some of the HL 1/24 scale tanks. As of now they have them here for very cheap. Choose the 27 Mhz one (it says on the back of your transmitter on a sticker what it is)

the board you have is the old one on the board there is the big silver plate under that is 4 fets. it sounds like the 2 have gone left and right turn have failed. so in that case you may need to get a new board
have a look at the rx18. that would be the best bet to get you up and running again you may need to get another transmitter as well if your one is the old non smoke and sound one you can tell if you look at the right hand corner at the bottom if it has a switch that says a/b/c then it the old one if you see a black square with a crystal in then you have the smoke and sound one

list of bits you may need
motor wires with the rx 18 plugs on and spare for on /off power and 8 pin muti wire
a speaker heng long
an rx18 board
a rx18 receiver board
a smoke and sound transmitter /heng long
set of heng long crystals

this should get you up and running with sound as well

Just had a similiar problem with my hl sherman,new mfu and good as new,£10 off ebay free p+p.

thanks for the replies,i think i will stay with the TK 01, less to buy...and less to rewire. I thought i'd get some more use out of it before anything like this happened... Boy was i wrong.

Ade, do you have a link? I did not see them at that price, I'd like to know where...(next time I buy them i'll buy two).
I figured ultimately that to make it work again i need to buy another board so i found them at the link. These particular boards are not easy to find but from this one they are dirt cheap. I'll be sure to use solderless connectors when i change it too, I'm sure I'll need to do it again!

Hi The old boards make the Tanks like racing tanks very fast acceleration ,these boards with a big tank tend to rip up the tracks ,or blow .It would be worth while upgrading to a better board .But they are fun when they go fast
