Crazy Joe's Sherman Rehabilitation

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

I had a welcome visitor this week. Sassgrunt came into the Front Range to visit family and I managed to steal a few hours of his company last Sunday. With him, he brought exotic gifts from the Land of Leis and Volcanoes, a load of gear for an upcoming 1/6 build and the last piece to complete 'In The Mood'. Alpha had built one of his premium antennas for the tank and made it extra springy so I could replicate the tied down version that St. Sgt. Pool used on his last Sherman. I took the opportunity to add the final detail bits to the shovel mount and finish the tools as well. 'In The Mood' is 100% ( as I see it ) and ready for a Show Off thread. I'll take care of that this weekend. Pictures of last night's work:

WHEW!ImageGlad it got there Painless... the one thing I worried about was it getting bent...One tip ... you might want to trim the base in half... I made it long thinking you were going to pull the brass out :haha:

Guess we get to see that in the Show off thread ;) Can't wait :D

Alpha,
The base is great! ( like the rest of the antenna ;o) The depth of the bottom section matches the height of the Mato brass pretty well and with a drill and mount provides a super sturdy base for pulling the antenna back and roping it into place. I don't have to worry about a bump sending the antenna flipping off of the turret *chuckles* Thank you again, my Friend.
regards,
Painless

That's great Painless...the main thing is it works... the Mato brass does make a good base ...I like that tied back effect ...you will have to do some black and white shots when you do your Show off thread :D

The decals look great. You are right though, your eyes will bug out on that small stuff. Time to break out the 2x and 3x readers. :) Glad it all came together.

Good evening,
Sorry to bring this one back to life but I had a rare chance to showcase the 'Mood' and an original MATO Shermans cross country capability. ( in deep snow )

Such a good looking tank in a fantastic setting just the mere mention of Crazy Joe got me thinking " will I get a glimpse of the one and only Joe?"

That section you have set aside for a tank arena will be spectacular! Such beautiful country
Tanks alot....
