Braid sleeves for intake pipes.

I have been looking for a dealer who can supply Braided covers for early Tiger 1 intake pipes, if you go to E-BAY and type in " 1 metre 6mm heat resistant sleeving cable high temperature braid sleeve " you will find yourself dealing with a Northern Ireland company that specialises in such products. It cost £2.69 post and packing free and took three days from ordering to coming through my letter box. The downside is it is white but a coat of flat black and it fits firmly over the intake pipes no problem. shaun.

Andy Hi, it is the second one, I think the first one apart from costing more looks too rigid although it is black, I do know that the second one is an exact fit and once painted looks dead right. shaun

Hi Phil, I tried this and it was the very devil of a nuisance stopping it from coming unravelled whereas the braid I am now using is a little thicker and a tight but not too tight fit, it really is the business, like I say you do have to paint it matt black but I figure when you are at this stage of your build that is the least of your concerns. take care old friend. shaun

Hey Shaun... did you try burning the ends? running them close to heat usually seals the ends and keeps them from unraveling :D ...unless the ones you use are cotton ;)

ALPHA my hero Hi, I did indeed put the ends over a hot plate and it works, but it is a faff ( old English slang ) whereas the braid I now use is instantly first class, it readily yealds to a sharp blade leaving a clean edge, it fits like a second skin, indeed my plan was to smear a little glue inside the braid but it fits so well it is not needed, just paint it with a coat of flat/matt black and it is done, I wish I had known about this before. by the way you and Painless arn't becoming commies with this love of Soviet armour I hope :haha: , take care old friend. shaun

Jarndice,
*chuckles* Noooooo, I will be re-doing my M4A1 at roughly the same time that I am doing the KV-2A and after that, a Kit type build, metal Tiger 1. ;o)
regards,
Painless

I must be cheap but it really works and looks good. Cloth Hockey Stick tape, yep comes in white and has a deep pattern embossed onto it, Wrap it around the existing plastic pipe and then just paint it up.
I'm working on a tiger and i'll get a pic posted up soon
