Hello, folks.

I have just taken delivery of mentioned hull. I'm going to post photos of it from out of the box and as I build it up. I figure some of you guys might be interested and may be thinking of getting one.

From what I can see in the box (not taken it out yet), the gear boxes are installed. From previous emails with a Germany supplier, I believe that the ratio is 5:1. I'm not sure if bigger motors will be able to occupy the space the current ones take up.

I have seen questions around the internet about attaching the upper and lower hulls together. There are claws that look like they fit into a couple of the upper hull screw holes. There is also a spring loaded bar running across the rear of the lower half. So I guess these two are related.

All of the suspension units need some assembly it seems (I've not had one in my hand to look at) and then fitting onto the hull.

The bit that protrudes from the back of the hull, under the exhaust needs to be installed as there is currently a hole in it's place. I supposed Asiatam have their reasons for not making it part of the hull in a single piece.

There are a couple of other loose bits that need attaching, but I don't know about those just yet.

There is a sealable bag of gloop supplied too. I'm guessing it is some kind of glue. I don't know how sticky it is yet or what it is for exactly.

It has a bit of weight to it as well. I'm guessing just over a kilo. Factor in the wheels, tracks, speaker and top half etc, it should gain a nice bit of weight.

That is it so far. I'll get some photos up here as soon as I can.

Jarndice is absolutely correct. For the sake of us who have or who are about to spend big dough on the Taigen\Asiatam lower hulls and components, be thorough in your evaluation. ;o)

I just took delivery of a Torro KT lower metal hull as well which I believe is the same as the Asiatam's. The gloop is actually grease for your motors. I think the two claws are suppose to mount onto the screw post that are in the HL upper and there is a slider on the bottom of the hull to release it fromt he claws.

Hello all.

I've managed to take some photos.

The weight of the hull out of the box is 1.36 kilos. It'll hit around 1.6 with the wheels on (minus tracks).

I have noted that there are some parts missing. There are some blocks that are part of the suspension system attached on one side, but are missing on the other side. I'll email Asiatam for help on this. One of the photos below will show what I mean.

Some parts need attaching to the hull. It would have been nice is Asiatam had paid a bit more attention to this. Other than welding, I am not sure what to use to attached bit of metal to each other. I'm thinking araldite at the moment.

Is it the towing blocks in photo 4 that need to be welded or Araldited to the chassis ??........ It is a great looking piece of kit but there is still some assembly to be done on the twin bogie units with the shared leaf spring. I will be very interested to see how this actually runs once it is assembled.

The detail on this unit is incredible. The lack of instructions, not so much. Is there a site that you can visit for a downloadable .pdf or summat?
