Nice to see your joining the dark side teddy! Have you had any ideas on size because that will be a factor. I like big boats (and I cannot lie?!) because they have a more scale appearance on the water but then makes transport more difficult. Have you got access to water locally? The other thing is ate you looking to go RTR or kit form. If your looking to lavish some time on the hobby then there are some lovely plank on frame kits out there. They will take time to build but apparently very cathartic and reasonable in price. Also the end product (especially the wooden speedboats) is stunning!

Any questions Ill try and help as best as I can, let's get you on the water!!

hi tom, been living here for 30 odd years always wanted a boat but never knew of anywhere to play with them, have now found 3 clubs all within 20 miles with their own water!!!  I guess at present I'm looking at rtr, whether new or used. been on flea bay and seen so many I like but cant make my mind up

I must admit I do like the scale stuff, and am a bit of a size queen 8O but of course transport would mean hatch back car size limits. the main problem is I like everything :haha: :haha: :haha: from tugs to battleships. saw this but looks abit yellowed http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291080088435? ... 1423.l2649 and this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LADY-JAN-TUG- ... 27def944fb

Funny you should mention that marauder, I've got the modern version the najade. There's a thread in the boats with pictures (a size comparison to my tam tiger) and some videos. I have to say that's these cruiser boats are good fun, nice and fast but look good doing it. Also robbe are quality models dare I say more so the older stuff. If your looking for something more racey but still scale I've got a second Atlantic challenger that used to be petrol but was going to be converted to brushless (should ensome pics in the thread). If you where interested could build it to your spec.

My other bit of advice is if you can go view a boat prior to purchase do as sometimes sellers will try and cover up dodgy bits (I've been told be really careful with the naval stuff).
