'Early' Heng Long 131 Tiger 1

Good Morning,
I was talking with Pale Painter earlier this morning and he mentioned that he has a new Asiatam\Taigen lower hull and spare Tiger 1 parts that he is going to build an early Afika Corps Tiger 1 out of. I think that is a really cool idea because I personally love the older, early Tiger 1's. To me, they personify 'Tiger tank'. That commo got me to thinking. I have several older Heng Long tanks with old style boards and bits. With all of the amazing things coming out for tanks in the hobby, it makes a lot of sense to upgrade existing ones _as long as enough of the original tank remains_ to call it the same vehicle. *chuckles* With that in mind, I'll start a thread for these old veterans. Beginning with one that was the the chief jewel in my collection once. This Tiger 1 model 131 has the RX13 board in it and the airgun has been replaced by one of John's maddog aluminum barrel 'specials' that give it a pretty good velocity. It runs perfectly as is but would be an excellent candidate for my own Tiger 1 upgrade. She is complete with 1/18 scale Infantry support from 21st Century action figures. These are like the Tiger, sourced from a few years ago. Now if only Taigen hadn't brought out their 'Three in One' RC Kit where you can build an early, middle or late all metal RC Tiger 1. I am really jones-ing for one of those. Decisions, Decisions...Pics:

Pale,
That would be in line with my 'James Franco' Sherman commander for the M4A3. *laughs* I was flailing around doing this stuff almost a decade ago. I've seen decent jobs done of that Commander figure since then.

Do you know I thought it was the President of France, although without one of his girl friends giving him a fat lip it is hard to be certain. shaun

Pale, Jarndice,
Once the laughter dies down, what do you think about the prospects of doing an Asiatam 'upgrade' on this Tiger? Should I leave it as is or do as Pale is preparing to do?

Painless

I have deliberately not commented on 131 because my Torro Tiger 1 is not a million miles away from an Afrika korp early model or at least will be when ( if ) it is finished, I have been trying to pretend it is nowhere near as good as my manly efforts but lying to yourself is a short road to paranoia. Damn it all Painless are you deliberately trying to force my hand and make me finally finish my life's work, should that happen Grandad will have to go play with his Grandchildren and that will be your fault! CAN YOU LIVE WITH THAT? shaun

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM....Looks like that tank crew hasn't been fed in a couple of decades .... they seem to be giving your refrigerator the mean eyeball :haha:

I vote leave it... and invest in your Kv2....this one is there... and can always come back... the Kv is a concept ...something Imo... you really "need" to do ;) .....

Good evening,
*breaks something on Jarndice's Tiger 1 so he has something to do, thereby saving him from his grandkids*
Alpha, The KV-2 is definitely first, followed by a redo of Joe's M4A1, then something Tiger 1 related is definitely going to have to happen. ;o) Either an upgrade or a new one altogether.

Painless
