Issues with Taigen 2.4 GHz in HL Panther

Hi,
I have installed a Taigen 2.4 GHz unit in my HL Panther (IR version) and have a couple of issues.
Issue number 1, when I first fitted it the main gun flash LED was on all the time, I did the fix others have done, i.e. reverse the polarity on the LED connection, now it doesn't come on at all, even when fired. Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem before I start tinkering and fry the board!
Issue number 2, I get the engine start-up sounds, and the engine idling sounds, however I don't get the running sounds when driving forwards or backwards, although I do occasionally get a screech from the speaker when performing a slow turn, bit stumped with this as I've not found any other posts with a similar problem.
Everything else works as it should, including the other sounds, and the driving control is a big improvement over the RX18, made even better with the Waltersons gear set I've dropped in. Any help or advice will be much appreciated as this is my first foray into the digital control world.
