Pzr III

Hi all,

Just finished up the refurbishment of my Taigen Pzr III.

It has an asiatam metal chassis and wheels, Mato Metal tracks, sprockets & idlers, Mato metal cupola, various schumo detail parts and their tank commander figure, complete respray using Tamiya acrylics, waterside decals from Peddinghaus, and very light weathering.
Electronics are IBU2, and I have fitted an asiatam recoil unit, may set it up for battling, but not sure yet.

I'm quite pleased with how it has turned out, its my first major foray into airbrushing for about 25 years. :D

Cheers

Paul

Paul a really nice build and a finish topped by the detail which takes me to your Shumo mg mount,I bought one from Steve at Welsh Dragon Models, after a lot of swearing and working with a pin vice I completed it, nothing anywhere to tell you how it mounts ( IT IS SO EASY IS WHY ) so into the Panzer 4 box along with the Heng Long plastic cupola which I replaced with a metal one also from Steve, Today I see your lovely Panzer 111 with mg mount, well the Pz 111 and 4 have the same cupola, so blow the dust off my PZ 4 spares box and match the Mount to the Cupola and " CLICK" closely followed by the sound of the palm of my hand striking my forehead and a very loud ( sorry dear) F**K, so Paul if you wouldn't mind sticking around and showing your builds so that this particular incompetent can continue picking up the scraps I would be grateful. shaun

Hi Ian, and thanks for the positive comments, the IBU2 fits like a glove

Shaun, I am not very good at remembering to take photos whilst I am in a build project, I tend to get too carried away with the model making :/ . I'm not going anywhere though so you never know you might get a build log from me sometime :D .

As to the cupola MG mount I was not sure at first as I could not find a reference to this type of mount being used on Pzr III or Pzr IV. Then I found these pics which seem to confirm that they were.

Scalawag,
Absolutely splendid job on both the paint and details but also on the excellent electronics and switch organization. Extremely neat and accessible. Well done, Sir!
regards,
Painless

Hi Doc,

The MG mount is definitely for the MG34, I think for the 42 as well but I am not certain. There is a simpler type of mount which I have seen too, which has two metal arms bolted to the cupola front

I have got an MG34 from Schumo that I might put on the mount, but at the moment I quite like it without. The Schumo MG mount is very very nice, I have another one on a Tiger I.
